He could be in Clemson or Athens Friday night. Should be in Athens Saturday regardless.
Thanks for thr reply. I dont comment often but read the boards religiously. Thought i might have missed something.
honestly don’t know if this has been mentioned before but just saw in an instagram Q&A with Sedrick Van Pran that he is committing January 2nd
It's been interesting reading everyone's take and opinions about what the recruits may or may not do and what they are thinking. The reality is, other than the coaches (maybe) no one really knows except the player and his parents.
It struck me today that there is one recruit that I know exactly what he is thinking and what he is saying.
My son was on an unofficial visit today and I know what he thought of the school, coaches and facilities - and I know what the coaches told him.
Turns out that today was one of the best time for an unofficial visit for a younger recruit. All the coaches were on campus getting ready for this weekend (all the schools are having a big recruiting weekend - but not exactly like Georgia's), most of the players are off campus, and the coaches had time for one on one conversation.
At least I don't have to rely on a recruiting forum to get info on one recruit. Pretty cool.
@texdawg as you have been on a few unofficial visits lately, what pitch have you heard that has appealed to you the most?? Also as a parent what is your least favorite part of the visits?? Just curious on wanting to see the parents side of things.
Also, what school has the best bagmen (besides Auburn)? /s
Actually, no recruiting pitch. The new rules do not allow coaches to discuss recruiting with the recruit until September of junior year. And they really don't talk recruiting. He got to see everything - weight room, player lounge, locker room, indoor/outdoor practice facility, film room, training room, coaches offices, athletes dorm and eating area. My wife was extremely impressed. He was invited to attend one home game this season.
Today was his first actual unofficial visit - where he fills out NCAA paperwork for the school. I think because of his age our other visits were just informal tours. Today was really the beginning of the official "unofficial " recruiting process. I was actually not with him - my wife, his mom was.
Really haven't experienced a least favorite issue yet - still so new. When I was being recruited, the least favorite part for me, and especially my family, was the constant ringing on the phone.
We have been to quite a few camps earlier this summer but those don't count as unofficial visits. He will be at Baylor's football camp on Sunday.
I doubt my son will good enough for the bagman to ever get involved with us.
Never know, he’s still young enough to have drastic physical changes and I’m sure his old man can give him a few pointers. Look at Brett Seither, he was a late bloomer by all accounts I've seen (I won’t pretend to be able to properly evaluate a highlight reel) and he had a battle going for his signature from 2 heavyweights at NSD.
Regardless, thanks for sharing what you’re going through.
A interesting POV my coworker (TCU fan) pointed out is...
What if UGA gets both Evans (asked for a held spot) and Milton (Monday) to commit. That would effectively take Tank out as he would probably feel a way about how things played out (which makes sense as it was sort of rumored to b hot and cold mutually). He pointed out that this would be ideal for the team player wise. But he brought up a interesting note that if Evans decided to flip late in the process (All Star Game) then he thought staff could have a easier time flipping Lloyd for RB#2 than they would for Bigsby.
Never looked at it that way but was interesting.
I think Jeff is saying that if they missed on Evans due to a late flip they feel confident in one of Tank/Lloyd/McClellan being flipped to the good guys and since Lloyd has already said he's still talking to the Dawgs and USC could very well crater this year you could be right on him being the backup.
That's another legit thing on both Burch and perhaps Lloyd is that SC could easily have a reeeally bad year. IDK if they'd fire Muschamp but there'd be major issues and assts getting fired probably. That schedule is gnarly.
This would be counter to what @SoFL_Dawg said on May 30th in this thread. He noted that the staff defines a thunder back as 220+ lbs. Evans, Lloyd, Bigsby were all listed as lightning backs. The way that I interpret the data Jeff posted is that there is a large difference between Evans and the pack when it comes to agility. I would have a slower time at that drill as well, doesn't make me a thunder back.
I see it that Jase and Evans are close on agility then there is a big gap to the rest. Tank may have the speed to be a lightning back but not close on agility. He doesn't have the thunder size as you say and my take is that is why CKS and co are hesitant to let him commit. Don't get me wrong, Tank is a very good player but I feel they really see Milton and Evans or Milton and McClellan as being more complimentary duos. Don't forget that K-Mac will be around until 2021 and probably 2022.
Are recruits arriving today or tomorrow ? It’s like Christmas in Athens
This explains y the silent commitment is hilarious. A month later he was out. Give me tank , Evan's will be in texas
@Denmen185 , I agree that McClellan seems to be in the same class as Evans was in that drill. My point was really that of those that Jeff listed, only one of them would qualify as a "thunder" back. Totally agree on the duos you listed being the top options. I am definitely excited about K-mac also.
I think we are really close to what I view as an ideal RB room: Thunder/Lightning duos in each of Jr, Soph, Frosh classes with carries split 80/20/0 for meaningful minutes and 0/30/70 for garbage time. After this year, Herrien & Swift replaced by 2020 class thunder/lightning. After next year, Zeus & Cook replaced by 2021 thunder/lightning. It's a pitch that sells itself, "Come to UGA. Develop as a freshman, give the country a tease as a Sophomore, ball out as a Junior, enjoy the NFL." It may never happen like that, but I think the closer we are to that scenario, the closer we are to the ideal. Right now we are VERY close.
I honestly think if they lock down two backs this year they go back to one a cycle and recoup the loses.
Looks like mcclellin is a no go this weekend
Where did you see this ? @dawgy10
