    I want:

    Sewell/BJO/ZW/Dex/Burch/Washington (WR)/Gilbert/Johnson/SVP/Conley/Ricks/Smith

    Subtract

    Burroughs

    = 27 commits

idk or idc how Kirby does it, but I think we sign 27-30 in this class. No logic to prove my theory other than Kirby will find a way.

    16 seniors

    2 extra scholarships

    Swift/DRob/Thomas/Wilson/Kindley/Cleveland/Stokes

    Bush/Smith/Poole/Speed/OL/DL/LB

there are guaranteed 18 scholarships needed to be replaced. 7 highly likely early NFLers. Low ball estimate on transfers after the season is 2-3.

Not for one. I've been screaming it for weeks. Even called 2022 All SEC team. Of course, I'm the only one that remember if I was right. 😉

I agree with you, but I think 60-75% of your roster being underclassmen is the new norm for the super teams Bama/OSU/UGA/Clemson in the age of the transfer portal. Kids will leave after year 2 of not playing and they’ll be replaced by a freshman. 10-15% will make it all the way to senior year. 15-25% will be juniors.

    30/85= 35.29% 25/85= 29.41%

    2019 roster:

    Freshman: 29 (29/83= 34.94%)

    Sophomores: 20 (29/83= 24.10%)

    Juniors: 18 (18/83= 21.69%)

    Seniors: 16 (16/83= 19.28%)

    You may be right:

If the NCAA tightens up on allowing immediate playing time on transfers - the transfers won't be as bad.

If they continue allowing immediate playing time you are probably going to be correct and transfers will continue to increase.

    Think about this

of the 18 juniors & 20 sophomores 7-11 of the 38 will go pro. so that'll leave 27-31 upperclassmen in 2020. which means 54-58 will be freshman-sophomores in 2020 before you factor in the transfer portal. Currently at a 49/34 under/upper ratio in 2019.

@Denmen185 there is no situation where UGA goes into the summer 2020 with only 80 scholarship players. Kirby would never let that happen. If he was scared of that being a possibility based on the fact that he couldn’t get more than 80 and stay under the 25 per year limit, then he would have been in the media over and over about the issue. He has not, so there is nothing to worry about in that front for 2020 cycle. We will take 28-30 guys and that’ll be that. Details will come out eventually on how it’s possible, but for now it’s just an assumption by all involved.

How many do you see declaring early? We currently have 2 open with 16 exhausting eligibility after this season. To get to 30 you need 12 declaring early or entering the portal.

Edit: BTW I don't see 80 as a problem. I would rather keep the 2021 class at 24 ( my class of 25 includes Zirkel as a charge against 2021) rather than using 3-5 of those for transfers coming in summer of 2020. We have used transfers only to fill holes in our roster but I see those holes have disappeared or will have by the time the 2020 class comes in.
