Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

@EvilSamPittman don’t turn into the @swilkerson73 of TEs.
We get it your passionate about your opinion of AG being better than DW.
I think even if the staff wanted to prioritize AG over DW, it’s too late. He gone.
Just revisit in 2022
Need ESPN and 247 to revise their rankings. ESPN have Tate at #74. 247 has him at #69 while Rivals rank him #12
We get it. Like I said, you may prove to be correct.
But eventually there will be someone that tall that is a coverage nightmare.
Most people that are that athletic and that tall are playing basketball.
For DW to be as athletic and fast as he is at that age and that size is unique. Coaches can only assume that there S&C coaches can improve on what are already impressive numbers. If they improve those numbers just a little bit - DW has a chance to be special.
I don't know that anyone on here is suggesting that Arik won't be special. Just that Arik probably won't be a Dawg.
If things go as they are projected - Arik will be a great TE at the school he chooses (maybe UGA) and DW will be a great and unique TE at the school he chooses.
My guess is that Arik has a quicker start in college while S&C works with DW. But DW has a chance to be something that has not been seen in college or professional football.
At the end of the day we're talking about two really good players. Gilbert may be better overall, but is he better for us? To me that's a far more important question.
Our offensive philosophy only allows so many opportunities for receivers to catch the ball. Under Kirby, the leading receiver each year has caught 44, 45, and 43 passes between 2016, 2017, and 2018. If Gilbert wants to come in and expect 60-70 receptions a year, that just isn't gonna happen. There are way too many mouths to feed between Pickens, Blaylock, Rosemy, J-Rob, etc. and that doesn't even factor in RB receptions.
Nauta was uber-talented and he maxed out at 30 catches in 2018. Will Darnell be content to come in, block his ass off, and catch around 30 passes a year? If he is, you sign him up. We've got WRs going forward, but the TE room in 2020 is looking very sparse with just a few scholarships guys in Fitz, Goede, and Seither.
Predictions:
Next three up for 2020 class - Z Walker followed by Z Evans before ND game and DW after ND
Our offensive philosophy is very similar to Bama and Tenn - the other two teams in contention for Gilbert. All are either Saban or Saban Disciples and are generally run first teams that want to play physical brand of football. Chaney is OC in Knoxville.
Gilbert will ultimately be a Tight End wherever he goes - and deep down, he knows it.
So who's the next to commit? Ringo, Washington or Evans?
Interesting thought on Z Walker. Any info on this or just a gut feeling? I could dig it
I don't know but this board could use a kickoff or a commitment to change the narrative
yep that's what I was going for. Lets get back on topic. Create a AG vs DW thread if you guys want to continue that train of thought
Well that didn't last as long as I'd hoped. In fact less than 1 hour of the 25k I was hoping for. 😂
This question is in regard to 5-star ratings on the 247Composite ratings. Not just one individual service.
Not likely to go 2-for-2 there @bmauldin because of a few thigns. I believe Tate won't get his fifth star based on what he does in Single-A ball in Georgia. He'll have to dominate at the All-American events. Good chance he does just that.
Rosemy is special. Said on DND that he will show up at UGA as one of the team's top 6 receivers. But the piece we had on MR yesterday details just how hard it will be to get his fifth star. There are 14 very good WRs among the nation's top 75 players for 2020.
Burton and Rosemy both still carry 4-star ratings. The fifth star is really all about being one of the nation's top 32 prospects. Will be very hard to squeeze five or six WRs in there.
The fifth star for either one of those guys might have just as much to do with a couple of other players backsliding in their senior years (thus falling in the ratings) as it does MR and TR raising their games.
In other news, @AnyUpdatesonRingo?
If he really knows it why are coaches pandering so much? That isn’t healthy.
Let it go. We were almost past this
