What time should I be in Athens Saturday?

Weekend before last my wife and I went to the UGA vs Murray St game. Kickoff was at 4:00 and we left our house about 10am. Roughly 2.5hr drive put us there by 12:30. With that being said by the end of the 4th headed home we were both dead tired, and we got home about 11pm.

So this Saturday me and a buddy are going to UGA vs ND. We would like to see college gameday and all the shenanigans, but to get there by 9am we have to leave my 7am. And 7am til 8pm kickoff is a long time. Not to mention getting home at 2 or 3am .

So what time are yall going to be arriving to Athens Saturday?

Gonna have to get there before 9am to get into gameday unfortunately. The line usually starts at about 4-5am... I'd say cut your losses, not missing much. Just get there to tailgate. I'll be arriving at probably around 2-3pm

live 20 minutes outside of Athens.

Unfortunately I have to work 8:30-12:30 Saturday.

Would love to be able to at least watch Gameday live, but I guess I'll just have to record it and watch it later.

So I'll be in Athens by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, but I won't get to the tailgate until 2:00 p.m. unfortunately. Just in time to catch the second half of the Michigan-Wisconsin game.

If I was you however, I'd find a hotel about an hour outside of Athens closer to your house that isn't charging a ridiculous rate (good luck), and get a room for Friday & Saturday night.

I’m getting there around that time. Know some secret parking places I’ll see if are still open and if not bite the bullet and pay/walk.

I think I’m getting there around 5-5:30 depending on crazy traffic.

May tailgate with friends or go to Grind house burgers. About 1 mile walk (past track). Worth the walk.

I’m coming in from Winston-Salem. 6 hour drive. I’m leaving at 5 am. I’m going to try to find parking near enough downtown around north st . I should be there and parked by 1 . Ill look for ya. I will have on a red ga shirt and black Georgia hat . 😎 I’m on the visitors side , section 307 upper level. Can’t wait. Been since the early 90’s . Ain’t got clue about what to do once I get there with wife. Get lost in crowd I guess...

I've got an hour and a half drive and am leaving at 7:30am. Will be a long a$$ day but I wouldn't have it any other way.

For those in the know, I'd like to check out college gameday but not necessarily stand in the crowd for hours. Where will it be and is it possible to observe from a distance?

From what I'm hearing they are expecting a lot more people in Athens. Many more than what have tickets to the game so you might want to put a plan in place for extra time looking for parking. It might be easier to park somewhere out of downtown and Uber to downtown.

Yeah ESPN is saying as many as 90,000 outside the stadium without tickets.
