Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

yeah, I'm not comfortable just yet w/ Carson Beck being the heir apparent. Seems like a lot of Dawg fans just assume he will be the "next Jake Fromm" but Beck doesn't have the pedigree of Fromm coming out of High School and isn't nearly as highly ranked and has yet to show the accuracy.
Absolutely, that’s the earliest they can sign and we’re all anxious for that.
You had me at Burch! Thanks for the great updates as always!
Tremendous news on Sewell, Washington and Johnson, as well...waiting to make sure Evans' suspension isn't a long-term concern makes sense and I know College Station isn't that far but didn't feel optimistic seeing him posting all his A&M content on a day when a number of his supposed future teammates were in Athens.
In fairness, looked completely different last year. He was a bit off in camps but he’s running for his life during the season and I might as well be out there trying to catch passes.
I hear ya SoFl, but I am basing my thoughts based more off last year than this anyway. Beck wasn't as accurate as everyone thought he should be last year. Above all else, a QB has to be accurate. Obviously will hope for the best but we need to be able to recruit over Carson Beck - if he wins the competition, so be it.
Herbert stayed with a 1st round grade...apples and oranges I know. I know the Fromm’s aren’t hurting for money and I know Jake loves UGA. Not the 1st or even the 2nd QB that would go. Late 1st/2nd Rd pick. Would never blame him if he left but it seems if anyone did stay he has all the right “indicators” for it to happen.
Not putting words in your mouth...but I wonder if this might mean Mathis returning to full health for next season isn't a guarantee? (hoping this isn't true, obviously)
QBs aren't like RBs who have very short NFL careers compared to most positions. With QBs it is all about development an reps, etc. While Jake will have had almost 40 starts by end of this year, he needs as many as possible w/ few throws he gets a game in the UGA run-heavy offense.
Couple together a likely 2nd/3rd/4th round draft grade and - anything less than a Natty this year - and there would likely be too many reasons to stay and not enough reasons to go. Whereas every carry on Swift's odometer is shortening his career - it's just not that way w/ QBs.
More reasons to stay than go. Don't think Jake's leaving - I know that puts me in the minority.
Champ Bailey? He left after his junior year.
Who are the recent Evans CBs to?
@bmauldin so far i’m a solid 2/2 in recruits that i’ve talked to. could Sewell be 3? i’m going to watch Burch play two weeks from now. maybe i could seal the deal.
If another QB is needed, Tennessee seems to be rising on the unappealing list. Any chance on Bailey ?
Did Burch make it? Getting conflicting information. Another site says no.
Never said losing to fields. Just Eason. I think he would have stayed and not hit the transfer portal. I just think Jake is made of different stuff there.
I think one thing that has not been taken into consideration yet by us is the NFL CBA will be ending in 2020. In 2021 the new CBA will be out and it is supposed to raise rookie contract payouts and allow for shorter deals so players can cash in earlier on a second contract. If you don't think this is a consideration, then ask Matt Stafford. He left early because the CBA was changing and would made him get paid dramatically less if he left one year later.
Fromm and his family are smart and I guarantee they are taking this into consideration.
