You know, I guess what is somewhat agitating here is that it’s about utilization. This is a position coming into the season that most, including me, thought/said would be leading the way for UGA. Position group has arguably performed the worst through the half way point. That’s frustrating when it has downstream ramifications.
This isn’t done yet, but for him to feel the atmosphere there was better than UGA against ND is very telling.
To be fair DW and Arian smith would be a pretty good haul for us, don’t think I’d be upset if we only took 1 TE if the only elite one we can get is DW.
I agree with Arian. But I think we take 2 TEs and can still take Arian.
This team has to upgrade TE room and we lose 2 this year.
hard pass.
I understand what 12 personnel can do in theory.
The issue is they have to be able to run block effectively AND be just as big of a threat to run past you and catch that pass.
I don't think any of the TEs we are recruiting will ever be able to do both.
The Mikey Henderson thing absolutely blows my mind.
sounds like another Quavon Hicks.
makes no sense to go get a QB to turn into your blocking TE. Gonna take him 2 years to see the field
Go get 1 of DW/TJ/AG and call it a day, and give the other scholarship to Arian Smith.
That’s true, and I really really hope that happens. I strongly want Arian, over probably any of the receivers we have commited at the moment. The O needs an injection of elite speed.
Do you think, in any way, that you really have any idea what Henderson is capable of?
Do you feel that you are moderately close to being the talent evaluator that Kirby and his staff are?
Do you think Kirby will offer a kid a scholarship if he doesn't believe he can play?
Why can't Georgia sign 2 TEs and not sign Arian?
@SoFL_Dawg ,
Quick question when you get a chance. Bama currently has the commitment of 5 Star Athlete Drew Sanders, kid is 6-5 and 232 and runs a 4.65. Won't they use this kid as a TE? If that's true, maybe Arik is considering that he might have to split reps there? Maybe this helps the Dawgs? Maybe I'm reaching?
Edit: from 247 on Sanders "Possesses size and athleticism to play traditional in-line tight end or a predominantly flex role."
I think the O needs quickness, more so than straight line speed. I think a Wren, or Henning type player would be a huge asset. Smith can stretch the field, no doubt, but we need someone with quicks, that is more in line with how Imac was and hopefully could also help as a punt returner.
I've seen this kid play a couple of times. Elite athlete. Absolutely elite. Also elite defensive player.
He and Arik are very similar. To me..... Drew and Arik are much closer to playing the same role as Arik and DW are.
Yeah I also agree here, someone with a little shake who can create that bit of extra separation on short and intermediate throws helps. But from what I see Arian has agility too, if he gets his routes clean no reason to think he isn’t this kind of guy as well as someone with long speed.
Thought I'd read that Sanders was going to be OLB
It'll be real awkward if we miss on either DW or TJ after all of Hartley's tweets.
Maybe. Saban knows a heck of a lot more about whats best for the kid then I do.
But he sure seems like a flex TE/WR to me.
Edit - Arik Gilbert / Z Walker / N Sewell
Am I wrong remembering that you're the guy who claimed that Jonathan Taylor would be UGA's 4th best RB? Was that you that posted that a few weeks ago? If so, I really appreciate your opinion of NCAAF.
