Availability is funny. So much I can't get others can. But Eagle Rare is always available for $32/bottle for me.
Around Atlanta now, Eagle Rare is tough to find in that $30 price point. I saw bottles this week for 49 and 60.
Sorry for the OT again, but any knowledge of the Armagnac? Only reason is that I have a bottle that the label states it was distilled in 1967 and bottled in 2006. My understanding is that it is distilled similar to bourbon in aged barrels although it appears to be a product from grapes.....
going off memory I think that is the stuff Artie Bucco tried to help import in The Sopranos
Not an expert but can confirm everything you've said. It is distilled wine, similar to cognac. 40 years in the barrel makes sense, and a 1967 vintage would probably cost $200-$400 retail (unless it's some rare bottle in which case who knows).
Is there a story behind it?
Jack Daniels #7 or gentlemen Jack.
Just finished off a bottle of Maker's Private Select. I'm not normally a huge fan of Maker's, but this was really good.
It came in at 111 proof...so be careful. It'll get you where you're going quickly, and if you're not attentive, its easy to overshoot your target! Don't ask me how I know, but do heed my advice. 😎
Four Rose's Single Barrel is tasty
I researched it and found about the same information you noted. I guess I'm curios about the taste more than anything or hold onto to it for "value' reasons.
Not much of a story behind it. I started helping helping an older, disabled couple around their estate around 2010 or so. They had a very successful business and the husband collected wines. Very unique built in wine cellar etc. etc... the husband passed away and I helped move the wife into an assisted living home last year. She doesn't drink and told me I could have anything left regarding alcohol. Not much left after the stepson went through the cellar.
Anyways, it looks like this was a special order from the distillery for gifts to their 'special' business clients. It's in a distillery wood box with the distillers name on it and with "Compliments of (business name).
And on a side note and keeping it on topic, along with this I also got a bottle of Bookers in the box, batch date marks it as a 1990 barrel date, 7 years, 10 months. So would that put it at a late 90's bottled date?
Neat. Personally, I would keep it and plan to open it on a special occasion to enjoy and share with good friends who would appreciate it.
I would appreciate it. 😎
never tried and no real plans to but that is a cool looking label. I am a sucker for a good label
Yes I do...
Very Nice, you make it or buy it? If bought, where'd you get it?
Ha... I wish I had the talent to make it. Was actually a gift from my wife. She got it on etsy. Search for "bourbon barrel liquor cabinet". More than a few options there.
