Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Best of luck @Kasey...this will be just one of the many ups and downs you and your fiancée will have the privilege and joy of experiencing as parents! Keep the faith!
Actually 7pm-5am.
Yea, I saw that after I got the email.
I work for the operational side of I/T for a very large hospital organization. I won’t say which one, but it’s not very hard to figure it out. I work primarily in Columbus – 2 hospitals and approx.. 30 ambulatory locations, but I also occasionally have to work in Newnan and Fayette Hospital. Almost worked out where I was going to have to go to Fayette tomorrow, but plans changed. Outside of the virus itself and infected people, our biggest problem is customers stealing PPE. It’s now being protected at a much higher level.
It’s kind of a double edged sword for me. If we continue the direction we’re headed, look for a pretty major stock market crash in the near future. The good side of that is I won’t have to worry about having a job – we are extremely overwhelmed with preparing “new projects” very quickly to accommodate. But on the flip side, working at a hospital makes you much more likely to be infected by the virus.
I’m not going to argue the fact of whether it’s legit or there are other alternatives, but either way, it’s not going away anytime soon. God Bless all!
Here in Illinois, all bars and restaurants are closed except for take out. Sadly, I expect us to see millions of cases when testing becomes adequate. Hopefully, our fatal/bad cases will be lower than others. Italy has shockingly bad numbers right now. Also, just read that France has 600 people in ICUs. Over half are under 60 years old. Be safe everyone.
PPE = personal protective equipment (in case you were wondering, like me).
Thanks @AnotherDawg , It didn't cross my mind to further explain.
No worries! I know how it is. We all do that sort of thing, depending on our respective fields.
My son and I are road tripping to Charlottesville tomorrow so he can collect his things. It will be great to have 16+ hours in the car, to talk, listen to music, and just be together. I always like to notice the small blessings during difficult times.
Appreciate report. This is serious. I had meeting with hospital administrator a few days ago who described the danger better to me than anyone else. He said the corona virus causes double pneumonia more rapidly than anything else seen on a widespread basis and since it a virus, there is no medicine for it except to treat symptoms and help patient fight through it, usually with respirators which there are not enough of. I had regular pneumonia a couple years ago and it was bad enough, felt like I was drowning for a couple of weeks and I did not have any preexisting medical conditions. (I think that is approximate definition of comorbidities)
Be safe and appreciate your work
Some good news is we learned from China that many people actually die from Cytokine Storms rather than the virus itself. Put simply a cytokine storm causes your immune system to become hyperactive leading to severe inflammation which results in multiple organ failure. We do have the ability to treat this in hospitals which will likely keep the death rate down.
Thanks for the info. The more we can learn about this the better.
Have a safe trip. My wife earned both of her degrees from UVA. My daughters Godfather was the founder of Littlejohns Deli where every UVA graduate has visited at least once. Peyton Manning was a regular there when he visited his future wife during her undergraduate years in Charlottesville.
Thanks Bobcat! He's loved his first year, despite it being cut short. Looking forward to life returning to normal by the fall semester. Not only for his sake, but for all of us, and especially Georgia football!
Doing ok in SE Alabama. Schools are closed in the county I live in. My wife works at a Thai restaurant and I'm a little concerned that they are still serving customers. I'd be ok if they only had to go orders. I do expect Gov. Ivey or local mayor to bring things to a halt this week. Good to read the reports that everyone that has posted seems to be doing ok. Godspeed to bring this 'animal' to a peak and we can get back to normality, if that is even an option now.
@pgjackson, living in Pensacola, do you ever travel to Athens for a football game?
Praying everyone and their families are able to avoid Covid-19
