We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Khaled Hosseini is a good one. He was born in Afghanistan and his dad worked as a diplomat for the government. His family had to get political asylum in the US after the communist revolution because they were executing all of the high level government officials. Came here at 15 without knowing English but was still able to become a doctor. While he was a full time practicing physician he would wake up three hours early to write his first novel, The Kite Runner. He wrote two more novels after that, and he's generally considered one of the best contemporary authors of the English language. Not bad for someone who didn't grow up a native speaker. He also started a charity to help people back in Afghanistan suffering from the constant warfare.

His museums are just down the road from me, maybe 4 miles. Awesome stuff in there.
I've been. He does have some awesome stuff in there. He's so personable and friendly and ready to talk to anybody that stops by if he's in the museum at the time. We went to a drag race in Commerce when our kids were small and he let them into his pits and since his race was over they let them crawl all over his car. I was amazed.
