Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Your idea of violence differs from mine. I consider destruction of property to be inherently violent. That has been happening in the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of these so called “peaceful protests.”
I would gladly trade the names of elite institutions for conservative support to enact real progressive policies, but this is just a weak troll attempt to highlight a double standard that isn't there.
It's well documented that most of the protests have been non-violent on the protester side. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/06/10/george-floyd-black-lives-matter-police-protests-widespread-peaceful/5325737002/
I find it hilarious that one student made his choice to protest his state flag, and some folks are trying to tell him that his form protest isn't his right and he can't change anything by himself.
and the Mississippi flag is really about the founding of the United States and not the confederacy.
Those pointing out hypocrisies rarely start with their own
Some people in this country will throw a fit about ANY form of protest as long as it’s done by certain people or certain groups of people. Rights for me but not for thee!
What works is being clear. #CancelYale
LOL, good one. Hypocrisy abounds on the Left, my friend. I'm very eager to hear what progressive policies you think would work that haven't for the last 50+ years.
There is a lot more grey area in this (overdue) movement than either side wants to see sometimes. Until we are willing to admit and realize that most points of view - which may be 95% insane - still may contain 5% of truth (some ideas are 100% crap also...) it will be hard to further the conversation. This goes both ways - it always goes both ways.
I am a middle-aged, white, somewhat conservative, southern evangelical who grew up in a rural Georgia town that had a population that was 45-50% minority. I was blind to a lot of the disparity I saw because it was all I knew. My father was a GREAT man, that served that community for years - regardless of socio-economic background or race. But he had his flaws, and dealt with a lot of ingrained racism his entire life. I have learned a lot from that lesson and I am thankful, and my hope is that generations moving forward will not be as ignorant as I was because of what is going on right now.
My problem is (and my problems right now pale in comparison to the 1000's of horrible things many of us are dealing with) when I watch or read what is going on, I feel like the world is telling me that I am the enemy of society, I am the problem, I am what is wrong with the world.
I am not blameless by any means. But this doesn't sit right with me. And I can't be alone feeling this way, and as a (again, self-proclaimed) reasonable person, I am worried that others are reacting to this feeling quite differently.
When you tell generations of people that EVERYTHING they find near and dear to them is just evil, hate-filled, and completely crap, you are saying that about their mothers and fathers, community, family, traditions, etc. And even if a (very high) percentage of what you see reeks of ideology that needs to pass away, there is a (low?) percentage of it that IS NOT evil, hate-filled, and complete crap.
We have to continue the conversation, listen to hard things, say hard things, and try to find common ground.
Black lives matter. Absolutely, where can I help/change/listen/grow/serve...
#BlackLivesMatter. Let's talk about it...
BlackLivesMatter.com No sir, can't get on board with this...
You are consistently one of my favorite posters on football and life. You get it and understand nuance. You want to be right and accurate, and not just "correct." And it's appreciated. Just wanted to throw that out in public here
Just about every third sentence I say is hypocritical. It's a flaw I try to correct daily, but I don't seem to be making much progress...
Let's keep traveling down YOUR train of thought. UGA's first president and founder was a Yale graduate too. Now I expect you to start hashtagging to cancel UGA.
If you don't, then we all know that you don't actually believe in your own statements to cancel Yale and you that you are just trying to hype up cancel culture.
join the club.
i'm not only the president, but i'm also a client
but many here are gunning for my title....MANY
I agree with everything you said before the comma. I hope that more and more people will be open-minded to change - not just for change's sake - that breeds more and more understanding of each other.
No one is perfect, and we should all strive to better ourselves. It's great that you have taken this to heart by listening to other people who aren't like you. I'll try to do the same. What makes you think the world is saying you are the enemy of society and that everything in the South is evil?
Edit: I was born and raised in the South and I brag about many aspects of Southern culture to colleagues from various regions of the US and outside of the country, so it's not like I've renounced my Southern heritage out of fear of being labeled the enemy.
the cancel Yale thing is Ann Coulter's shtick where she tries to make the left look hypocritical. It's not a genuine argument.
You're missing the point entirely. The lines I wrote are not Ann Coulter shtick, rather Jesse Kelly's poke in the eye at liberal hypocrisy. It's a critic on the foolishness of the #CancelCulture movement. #CancelYale is nothing more than giving elitists a taste of their own medicine.
I was born in California, the bastion of liberalism, lived in a Socialist country, traveled to Communist countries and have family and friends that are liberal. My best friend is a progressive. I'm all about being open minded and fair, but I fail to see any upside to Political Correctness or a heard mentality that attempts to tell me how I should think or what words I can and cannot use. I'm pragmatic and practical, so if someone comes to the table with an idea, policy etc. I will listen and judge it on it's merit, regardless of whether it's liberal or conservative. Looking at the present situation I see a lot of destructive forces trying to impose their will on others, without the willingness to truly look inside and identify the root causes of why their community is suffering. A lot of TV pundits want an honest debate about race... no they don't, they want an echo chamber.
Ann Coulter started it with an article on her website and a few tweets and others picked up on it. That Kelly tweet has just been one of the more popular ones.
I stand corrected. I don't read Ann Coulter, so I was unaware of it's origin.
