Anderson looked really good, but let’s not anoint him ROY just yet. He is going to have growing pains. Teams will adjust to him, he will have to adjust to their adjustments. But we saw the potential we have been hearing about for 2 years.
Couldn't have asked much more from the double header yesterday. Braves don't need Anderson to be Doc Gooden as a rookie. They need him to be a viable starter to slot in behind Fried. If they can just get Hamels immersed in some holy water or something to get him healthy they might actually have something in a playoff series. Still a long way to go for that, though.
Really nee Hamels to get touched by an angel really soon...

I know it's an off day but I wanted to take a moment to appreciate how well our guys are playing.
In particular I want to give proper credit to our bullpen, which might be the best I've ever seen. Not just for the Braves, but anywhere.
We just swept the Red Sox, and granted, they are a depleted and struggling team, but it's important to TCB against such opponents and we did just that.
Gm1 Fried continued his Cy Young campaign, moving to 6-0 with 1.60 ERA
Gm2 Anderson followed up his MLB debut with another gem and Ozuna hit 3 HR's. He's the best pure hitter we've had since Gary Sheffield, IMO.
Gm3 Erlin gave us 4 IP and the pen did the rest. Duvall matched Ozuna's performance with 3 HR's of his own.
Bullpen stats for the series:
12 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 17 K

Still gonna be hard to win in post-season without Soroka but I may just lay money on these guys come 2021. AA has done a heckuva job as GM. Just imagine if ownership frees up a little money to sign another big bat, or front line starter, or both!?!!
It has been special what they have done while Acuna, Albies and Soroka have missed so much time.
The fact that the starters past Fried have been terrible until Anderson came in makes this miraculous.
Most importantly this team is just fun to watch. AA and Snitker deserve a lot of credit.

They are fun to watch, and are winning without those three studs.
All that being said, they need the two young kids back in the order before the end of the season. They really need to replace the guys batting .179 at the end of the order.
But, both of those guys are very good defensively, so you aren't losing as much as you could be.
Bullpen is incredible. Can I teleport 2-3 of those guys back to the 90's?
Braves future is unbelievably bright:
SP - Soroka, Fried, Anderson could be our next big 3, not to mention other guys in the pipeline who could still pan out as well (Davidson, Wright, Wilson, Muller, Weigel, ..etc). Imagine a best case scenario where we get one more frontline starter out of that group. Does that give us the best 1-4 in baseball in 3 or 4 years? Maybe a little bit of sunshine pumping there but it seems like a real possibility and it’s a group of guys that will be under team control for a LONG time. Been too long since we’ve had young pitchers like these.
Lineup - an outfield of Pache, Waters, and Acuna would not only have a chance to be one of the better/best offensive outfields in baseball, but would be hands down one of the best defensive outfields. Freddie has at least 5-6 years left of dominance. Ozzie looks like a long term star for us, Dansby is breaking out and solidifying his status as a folk hero, and even Riley looks like he’s starting to put it all together at 3B. I’ve been especially encouraged by Riley’s flurry of opposite-field hits lately, I really thing he made a significant step in his approach. Another group of young rising stars who will be under team control for a long time.
Its possible that our future doesn’t pan out as planned and I wouldn’t put it past the Braves to mishandle things terribly. But **** if it doesn’t look like we could be one of the best teams in baseball for years and years to come
