Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Another guy who didn't need to play this year. no sense in him risking injury when he could've gone in the first round last year.
I'm pretty sure I just heard a epic, collective sigh of relief out of Gainesville.
I just hope it’s this year with Covid and all these opt outs....Because this would ruin college football for me..Not saying I don’t respect his decision..
As well as Tuscaloosa.
Looks like LSU's bagman is getting behind on payments after going to prison.
I mean its not like his draft stock will improve by playing this year.
I doubt we see many people sit out extended periods like this moving forward. Very few players are good enough and have enough tape to sit out a season and secure a high draft pick. Only one I can think of off the top of my head that pulled it off is the younger Bosa?
I agree it is a rare case, but there are players like that every year honestly. If Andrew Thomas or Swift had sat last year we’d have understood the decision but it would have been pretty disappointing. I’m with everyone here though, hoping this doesn’t become a theme.
By the time he suits up for his first NFL game, it will have been over 18 months since his last football game. There’s no question he belongs in the NFL, but it will be interesting to see how the long layoff impacts his learning curve.
I don't get it......how does someone that loves playing football decide not to play football?
How does a competitive and driven elite athlete chose not to compete?
I don't like it when players sit out bowl games....but I understand the business decision...and it's just one game.
Hopefully the NFL takes this in consideration when choosing to draft him.....one absolutely has to love the game to put up with the rigors of the NFL....
This doesn't seem like a young man that loves the game.
I don't love it either. Maybe this indicative of his work ethic....but maybe not.
Maybe this is indicative that he doesn't love football...but maybe not. Maybe he loves it and doesn't want to worry about catching COVID19.
If I was 20 years old, could go to zero classes and just workout and prepare for my next job where I was about to make a ton of money...I'd probably choose the same path.
Let add some more to that @Kasey
Maybe the kid just saw most of his OLine o down because they were exposed to or caught the virus.
Maybe the kid just watched as much of his state was evacuated because of a hurricane.
Maybe he knows that it isn't worth the risk if they only play a partial season anyways.
This sure seems like the wrong time to question a player's love of the game based on their choice to play this season.
I believe a lot of kids with Chase’s level of talent have contemplated it in years past, but there was no way they could do it. Kids this year have an opportunity, because of the circumstances.
Sign of the times I guess. Seems ridiculous to me......but obviously others think it's OK.
You don't think there's at least some unprecedented circumstances here?
Like @LowcountryDawg21 said...if this was a kid sitting out a normal season, I'd be more on your side. But it's not. This black/white issue has some shades of gray to it.
