My boys always call me on game days. It’s money in the bank.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Actually gave me misty eyes. Good songs that deal with fathers and sons do that to me.
Been blessed with an incredible dad and a special son.
Thanks for posting
That’s good stuff!!
I don't have a "blood" son. But I do have my stepson which is just as good and he's a big Dawg fan. I will share this with him.
Good share
Some of the best dads in the world are step dads.
It kinda got me too Tex.
Man this one hit home hard for me. Being over here in Texas for the last couple years and talking to my dad every week.
I once attended a Christian men's conference and there was a memorable speaker (and a great man) named Winston Parker. Tex, I'm sure you would love him because he grew up out west and is a lifelong farmer and rancher. He looks and talks like a real-life cowboy. A man's man, with a huge heart.
He talked about his own father, who was an alcoholic and by all objective measures not a good dad, but Parker made the point that he was incredibly grateful for his childhood, and wouldn't change a thing about it, because this was the dad that God gave him, and it made him the man he is today.
I can't do it justice here but it was one of the most powerful talks I've ever heard, and it really made me reflect on my own life and I came away more grateful for my own father. Made me want to forgive him and also take account of my own shortcomings.
None of us are perfect, and I certainly wasn't a perfect father, but the best gift I gave my sons (I think), was that I didn't expect them to be perfect either, and I loved them as they are, and always would.
I guess that's a little off-topic but I felt compelled to share and I hope it might inspire or give comfort to somebody else out there.
Love it & just bought it. Sending the video to my boys. Thanks for the post.
Not Tex but to your comment - regrettably, I’ve never heard of Winston Parker but I will definitely check him out. I attended a discipleship conference in Memphis called “Downline Ministries” about 7-8 years ago. There I was introduced to a couple extraordinary men of God, Crawford Loritts, Roy “Soup” Campbell, and, my personal favorite of the three, Tommy Nelson. I’m assuming Tex knows of him as well being he is the pastor of a large church in Denton, Texas. Highly recommend ANY of his sermons. The man is a gifted teacher of scripture and an avid football fan that played QB for North Texas.
That's awesome. So grateful you shared this.
Tommy Nelson of Denton Bible. Very gifted speaker and teacher.
I think my dad is friends with Ray. Also looks like he's from Augusta. I haven't listened to one note, but I guess he's alright.
Small world! Crawford Loritts is pastor to the man who personally discipled me. I'm a big fan. I don't know Campbell and Nelson but I will find out. I bet some of the guys in my circle know them well. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
