Maten is 2-for-2 from the floor. The rest of the team is 1-for-6.

The bad news for Georgia: Its looked very disjointed, and the only reason it holds a 9-7 lead is Tennessee has been worse.

The good news for Georgia: Frazier is scoreless and will almost certainly get going soon. And Maten looks fine.

J.J. Frazier's firsrt points: A 3 pointer that goes in and out and then back in the rim, tying the game at 12 with 9:18 left in the half.

Lamonte Turner, who came in averaging 8.1 points for Tennessee, already has 10.

I continue to wonder why Pape Diatta doesn't play more: He just drilled a 3 on the break (off a nice pass-out from Frazier) to put Georgia back ahead, 17-16. That was five straight points from the bench.

In fact, 12 of Georgia's 17 points are from the bench so far.

    Georgia on a 7-minus 1 run. (Tennessee had a 3 turned into a 2 upon review.)

Georgia's run ended on a pretty bad foul call that let Tennessee get to the line. Mark Fox was still upset by it a few minutes later, and was working with the officials.

But Fox and the Bulldogs know the officials aren't really the problem here. Both teams look like they're having trouble with the new environment shooting-wise, while the Bulldogs also have 10 turnovers.

Halftime: Tennessee 27, Georgia 26. Very ****, and very back-and-forth.

Georgia has 10 turnovers and is shooting 39 percent. Tennessee is shooting 32 percent and has four turnovers. The defense deserves some credit, but obviously both teams are really struggling to shoot or to get open shots.

Maten and Frazier lead Georgia with seven points apiece. Pape Diatta with five points, off two good outside shots. There's room for improvement, obviously, from everyone, especially Frazier and the rest of the supporting cast.

Yante Maten, by the way, played 12 minutes in the first half. I thought he may only play 10-15 minutes in the game, so that's quite surprising.

The key for Georgia in the second half is fairly obvious: Take care of the ball. But you also have to assume that Tennessee will get going - Grant Williams, who made the SEC all-freshman team, didn't score at all.

So not only does Georgia need to stop turning it over, Frazier probably needs to take over at some point.

J.J. Frazier has eight rebounds, by the way, and we're not a minute into the second half. His career-high is 11.

Wilridge and Ogbeide, who teamed up for the first two baskets of the half, are the first two players subbed out. Yeah, Maten's one of those coming in, but still.

Three fouls now on Grant Williams, Tennessee's best low-post player - who hasn't played very well today. Two free throws by Juwan Parker and Georgia leads 34-29.

That was a good run to start the half for Georgia, which has now a couple times gotten the lead out to the 4-5 point range. But it can't extend it further yet. At some point it will have to or it'll be playing with fire, letting the young Vols get more confidence.

Georgia is the more experienced team here, with more to play for. If it can, it absolutely needs to put its foot down here.

Need some plays from JJ soon, this doesn't feel sustainable unless he steps up
