One of my favorites. I blame Ron Swanson for the pricing lol. It’s up $20 bottle just this year. I’ve bought three this year, each more expensive than the last. All at Total Wine which is fair with their pricing
Let us know how you like it.
Yesterday a Bourbon aficionado came over and we did a tasting. I then broke out some single malts and Irish whiskey. It was interesting comparing all three types of whiskies. My favorite ended up being Middleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy. The finish is unlike any whiskey I've ever sampled. To say it's long would be a mild understatement.
Thank you for the very informative post. From $1.9B to $29B in 9 years is remarkable!
Never heard of that but I'll keep my eye out for it!
Total Wine bought out the distributor for Wolcott distillery and contracted them to make an exclusive Bourbon. I bought two bottles and tried it yesterday. My guess is it's aged between 6 & 8 years. It's got a very nice nose (vanilla, caramel, fruit and spice) and is complex on the palate. However, it's extremely light. It's more suitable as a Spring and Summer Bourbon. Honestly, not sure I'd go back for another bottle, but it is reasonably priced - for NOW. It's going to go up by $20/btl. after this batch sells out.
Where are you finding those?
Midleton (one "d") is the best Irish I've ever had. Johnny Walker Blue is the best Scotch I've ever had. Never been a big bourbon drinker so haven't tested the same heights on that front, but would love to do so some day. Maybe @tfk_fanboy or others can offer up their "best ever."
Tangentially related to bourbon: Goose Island drops a lineup every black Friday. I was able to get at least one of each except the proprietor. I just took this picture but I had more. I drank one #4, three originals, two Fogs, and one Caramella already.
I also picked these up, never tried any, but only the two gold wax ones are barrel aged.
After 550 replies, I believe that it is safe to say that, yes, we do like bourbon.
LOL, yes astute observation. I was able to find a bottle of Weller Reserve, so this should be a good weekend.
Garrison Brothers is definitely an independent rather than a repackaged product from one of the major distilleries. I think you would like it tkf-fanboy and if you pick up a bottle, let me know your reactions.
Wish the stuff had never been made. But anyone who doesn't like it, I will be glad to relieve them of it.
Amen. Recently had a discussion w myself. I'm cutting the drinking by 90%. Too much to lose. Only took 47 years to realize.
