It's so good, it's aged well too.
Yes, you are quite correct @SAVDGD!!! Terminator II is also a favorite of mine as well. It won awards for at the time (1991) for some groundbreaking special effects. This scene with a lever action shotgun coming out of a box of roses, was just about as cool as cool can get for me!!! Talk about rock and roll!!!
Edward Furlong singlehandedly ruined T2. Probably through no fault of his own. I'm sure he acted the part exactly as it was written and directed.
It's just a difference in perspective between Hollywood and me when it comes to the appeal of smart-mouthed, bratty, punk-ass kids in featured roles. Sorry not sorry.
EDIT: Loved Shawshank and Ben-Hur though!
I actually prefer the first terminator too. While I enjoy the second, the first is just a better film in my opinion.
Interesting, T2 to me is one of the rare exceptions where the sequel was better than the original.
I know that’s the popular opinion but I just prefer the man vs machine horror story more than the machine vs machine action movie.
Both are great to me. The latter iterations got a little old though.
Consensus best sequels, all-time (according to many lists):
Godfather Part II
Empire Strikes Back
T2: Judgment Day
Aliens
Christmas Vacation
All of them are great movies, but in each case, reasonable people can disagree whether the sequel was, in fact, better than the original.
I'm not sure of ANY sequel that is universally considered better than the original.
Perhaps someone else can find and post a good candidate.
Empire was part of a trilogy and not a sequel. Otherwise I prefer the original in all the movies you mentioned.
Hmm. Interesting distinction to draw, but thanks for agreeing on the others.
There’s a scene in scream 2 where they talk about most of these. Pretty entertaining.
@AnotherDawg
That may be, but I'm not intending to speak universally, just giving my opinion.
If any sequel can match or or top the original, it is Godfather 2. De Niro as a young Vito allows 2 to be in that discussion.
My view is that 2 matches original.
All good bro. Me too.
