Georgia football all-time great Herschel Walker is running for U.S. Senate in 2022, per a breaking story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I thought he was still living in or near Dallas, TX.
I met Herschel once. Same flight ATL to Dallas. We chatted briefly while waiting for bags at baggage claim. Long past his playing days I asked him if Jerry was bringing him in to sign him. In true Herschel humility he said the Cowboys were just fine w/o him. My bag came 1st. Grabbed my bag, looked at Herschel, nodded and said "Go Dawgs", and started to walk away. He motioned me back, reached out his hand, shook my hand and said "God Bless You". Extremely personable and gracious guy. A very intelligent guy with a history of dedication, accomplishment and respect for the country and law enforcement. He has my vote.

You are spot-on with your take on HW. I had the amazing opportunity to take my 9 year old son into the locker room (in the early 80’s) after HW broke Tony Dorsett’s rushing record. It was wall-to-wall reporters and total chaos with all the press in the room. Herschel spotted my son and called him over and requested the cameras to be cut-off for a few minutes. He engaged my son in the kindest conversation and encouraged him to do well in school and give 100% in everything he did in life. Wow….what a kind and humble guy!!! Unfortunately, I’m sure he will get battered in his campaign, but he will win by a huge margin. Besides, he’s probably more qualified than his opponent was last year. Go Dawgs and Good Luck Herschel.

AJC trying to make Warnock look like Hercules, impossible to beat. In reality, he is Bill Bates, and Herschel is closing. FAST.
Maybe UGA fans will come vote from all 50 states, like Hollywood freaks did in November and January. Herschel has my respect, support, and vote.

He has a ton of baggage as a candidate that this article didn't dare touch. I would never vote for him, but I live in South Carolina where we have our own bad politicians to deal with.

I try not to talk about politics on this site, but I am not a fan of Warnock. My fiance was preparing a presentation for people with Lupus in order to get federal funding and help with the disease, and was to go in front of Warnock as a rep for GA. He backed out of the meeting with no explanation. I say screw him. He doesn't care about people if they can't be used for politics.
Interesting that several folks on this site slammed anything positive about Herschel. Are those folks Techies or Marxist? Maybe both 😉
I'm not going to get into a back and forth, I respect Herschel too much for that. I don't think HW will be the republican nominee in the general election though. I suspect his campaign will fade. I can think of several ex-Dawgs who seem well suited to politics, but not Walker. There are also reports being circulated that might prove damaging to his chances.
