Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it.
Saw it last night on IMAX with my son.
In Jacksonville, there are a lot of retired Navy veterans. Last night the theatre was packed with them. It was good to see all the vets cheering!
My wife had read that it had men crying, and warned me, as I'm prone, but I saw no curable moments. Sensitive guys can leave the tissues at home!
If you are a fan of the original, I think some of the references might have you a little emotional. It definitely hommage to the original.
Spoiler Alert: The only thing I didn't like was when they were going over the mission plan, it was a direct copy of the Star Wars Death Star plan. Go through a valley, target is a 3 meter ventilation shaft, drop a bomb in it and blow up the facility underground. Even the graphics were very similar to Star Wars.
That has been bugging me since I saw it Sunday, I just couldn't put my finger on why the mission seemed so familiar. Thanks it's like having a itch you can't scratch,!
Man you are perceptive. 😀
Finally got to see it this afternoon...absolutely loved it. Great call-backs to the original, lots of great flying scenes, loved the way they handled Iceman, and an overall blast from the past. Great start to the summer movie runs.
Realizing Top Gun was 36 years ago is one of those moments that makes me feel very old.
Think how it makes me feel. i was old when the original came out.
Saw it yesterday. Great movie way better than the first one. 14 bucks for 2 tickets 20 bucks for popcorn and 2 drinks.....
Yes, I saw the original TopGun in an Athens theater with some guys from Myers Hall just before I graduated in 1986. Been awhile. But grateful to be around to see and enjoy the new movie!
Goose and Meg Ryan. They were not in the second one, but their absence shaped it. Touching inter generational storyline, including the F14 v F18 . Can relate to Cruise going back and forth in time with emotions and events in old stomping grounds.
Have heard the film is tailor made for IMAX theater. It is no longer showing at the one in Chattanooga. Does anyone know of other IMAX locations where it is showing
Is @AnotherDawg around. Miss his movie reviews
No he had quite the dramatic exit from this board when one too many people gave him an OffTopic vote for some of his posts.
