I hear ya Jeff, and I am hoping you are right! This is new, rarified air for Tenn to be ranked #1, the dawgs can take advantage of that given that Georgia will be at home, the crowd will be crazy, and the dawgs have way more experience with being in the spotlight. I see Tenn making numerous mistakes on Saturday and Georgia will get some short fields to excel in. Dawgs by 14! GO DAWGS!

Like BAMA a year ago in the SECC game, Tenn shows what a good QB and a stellar WR or 2 can do for a team. Take away Tenn's top 2 receivers and they would have 2 losses and perhaps even 3.

I hope UGA can/has recruited some true difference makers at that position. A shame AD has been hurt, hopefully he makes it back.

Ummm ... this concerning UGA's top 2024 QB target - and remember UGA will sign zero QBs in 2023 plus lose Bennett and likely Vandagriff in the offseason - dropped like at 4:00 PM yesterday. I suppose that you are going to deal with this eventually.

That Julian Sayin didn't even wait until next week - after which UGA may well be 9-0 and Alabama may be 7-2 with no wins over anybody good and out of the playoff hunt - is revealing. More evidence that elite prospects primarily care about programs that have a track record of getting guys at their position to the NFL as 1st and 2nd round picks, and that they care about the likelihood of winning a national title much less. Reason: a 1st round draft pick rookie contract can basically set them for life, but a national championship ring "may" be good for a couple of commercials at local furniture and car dealerships and regular stints on local talk radio.

Starks is a five star, but he made a 1 star play allowing a touchdown against Florida. He'll be better in two years, but that's not today. UT has experience and stars don't trump experience. UT has the edge and the playoff guys agree. Having said that, hooker hasn't been pressured. The Florida QB played terrible after that first hit. Someone has to get to that QB. He's got to feel like he has to throw in 2.5 sec or he'll get clobbered. Give him 4 sec and he will win that game.

Goody day @thadec -- I don't think that is concerning. Not in the least.

Feel that UGA ended up with the 2024 QB target that it wanted all along in Ryan Puglisi.

Sounds like the the reVOLts are as bad on defense as they are good on offense. Unless Georgia turnovers decide the game the Dawgs win by 14.

Recruiting rankings matter only if those 4 and 5 star recruits are getting coached up to their potential. So yeah, these Dawgs are being coached up to their potential and we have a distinct depth advantage with little to no drop off regardless of who is being brought in. Let the “Big Dawg eat” this Saturday. I can barely wait! Go Dawgs!

Exactly. A huge factor for the Bama choice yesterday was that UGA had already gotten their target. Nothing against either player but to think UGA was still heavy involved in that is seeing everything via crimson shades.

Coaching and development of players are the intangibles that have to be added in for you to get the bigger and best picture of the two programs. Bama and the Dawgs recruit more out of high school and don't use the transfer portal near as much as TN. Heupel has been very smart in his use of the transfer portal as your numbers indicate. He knows he can't out-recruit the elite teams like Georgia, but he can build a National Championship caliber program QUICKLY by using the portal. Once he gets victories and winning seasons under his belt then the recruits out of high school will begin to show up wanting to play, and his use of the portal will probably go down. Currently, TN has only the 12th ranked recruiting class for '23. I suspect that will improve by February, especially if they keep winning.

TN has already taught the best recruiting team in the nation - Bama - a lesson. What if they beat Georgia - does that mean the way Heupel uses the portal to get already-experienced and better than average players the better way to recruit? Is it the best way to build depth - especially quickly?

I'm sure someone has pointed this out but I haven't seen it. Alabama and Tennessee are bitter long time rivals (I don't think Alabama currently views Tennessee in the same manner that Tennessee views Alabama), Georgia and Tennessee are not. I think Tennessee sees Alabama as their top rivals by a lot. In recent rears, they have viewed us as rivals but nowhere like they view Alabama. I simply don't think they will be as sky high for us as they were for Alabama. Conversely, we don't see Tennessee as anywhere close to the rival that we view Florida. I think that Tennessee ranked number 1 and UGA ranked 3rd by the only people that count will give us a great deal more incentive Saturday.
