That cracked me up the first time you said this as well! 🤣🤣
Agree...and, all preseason we were hearing about the great BAMA stealing our "top recever", Jermaine Burton. I said, then, that Burton was average.
@MikeGriffith was constantly pounding that drum. Burton this...Burton that...the great "Burton left to win a Championship and get more catches in Saban's superior system.".
I called BS then...now, I say that Bennett and Monkin were making him look better than he is. Stick that in your corn cob pipe and smoke it! LOL. And, I don't get paid for my opinion.
I also said that BAMA would NOT be in the SECCG and Saban would retire after Young and Anderson move on to the NFL. Looks like that may happen...unless Young, unexpectedly returns to BAMA for 1 more season. I think that might be the only way he stays. Unlike previous seasons, the cupboard is bare, behind Young...and Burton...and Gibbs...and the starting O-Line (which is avg.). 'Course Saban has a lot more problems, right now, than QB.
A bunch of knew UGA's offense was going to be explosive and virtually unstoppable. What we didn't see coming, was how dominant the defense was going to be, early in the season. I think we all suspected the defense would be comparable to last year's, at this point in the season...but, not as early as the Oregon game.
This is another Kirby Smart "Generational", NFL Quality Team. Where's Saban's? BAMA's defenses haven't been the same, since Kirby left.
Daniels seems to be much more elusive, slippery and faster runner than anyone you mentioned. He seems to be a streaky passer. 8/15 and 7 sacks vs Ark but 22/32 passing and 95 yds rushing vs AL. Both W's btw.
One more thing...I'm proud to see storied programs such as TENN, LSU and FLA being resurrected by competent and competitive coaches, such as, Lea, Heupel, Kelly, Napier, Kiffin, Beamer and Stoops.
All are doing a great job providing strong teams for UGA to destroy and pad their CFP Resume. Without those guys, they'd be talking about the Dawgs, the same way they're talking about the Wolverines, right now...with respect to SOS & SOR.
Man...I was thinking about the difference between the 21 & 22 Dawgs, and the '80, '81, '82 & '83 teams. Both won Championships, but this team would annihilate the teams that played back then. It's not a matter of schematics either. It's the size and speed of the players.
Look at the size of interior linemen of the day and compare em to kids playing today. I don't know if it's advancements in sports medicine or kids just be more informed about expectations and "strength and conditioning" advancements. Some of the guys that were recruited back then off teams I played on and against wouldn't even be given a second look today. I don't know what it is...maybe it's in the water.
Radioactive contamination produced Godzilla and King Kong. Maybe that's where some of these Bulldogs came from...Skull Island!!! LOL
IMO...."Skull Island" would be a good nickname for Athens, Ga.. Freaks of nature are born there. LOL
We heard the same thing about Aiden Hutchinson in the CFP semi finals. I watched the entire game and thought Hutchinson opted out, turns out he was there the whole game and had NO impact. GO DAWGS!
Don't forget,, Anderson and Ojabo, or whatever the other heralded MICH edge rushers name is.
Northern Teams get the hype and Southern Teams...crush their dreams.
@MikeGriffith
I just found out, you were in the 82nd Airborne. I wanted you to know, even though I was Navy Spec Ops...I appreciate your service and know what you guys had to sacrifice. I liked your response to Finebaum...it WAS an honor and privilege to serve our Country.
My Step-Son was Airborne Ranger and there's a good chance, you 2 chewed some of the same mud. He's about your age. I'm proud that YOU represent our Dawgs and their Fans. You must've been one tough SOB when you were younger.
Keep on keeping on, Brother! Git er done Dawgs!
Thanks @BigDawg61 , it was many years ago and I was fortunate not to be deployed ... but I was prepared, and along the way I grew up a lot as I entered the service less than one month after graduating from high school. The GI Bill helped me afford college, but the lessons I learned in the ranks have been more valuable than anything I could have learned in any class room!
Ditto...I second that!
It doesn't matter that you weren't deployed. You were trained to a high standard. Lol...I know what you guys were capable of. I took a trip with my Wife to Columbus, GA., when my Step-Son was there, to watch them train. It was a very impressive experience. He did some kind of Airborne training in Honolulu, HI, too.
I know now that when you say Kirby is training his Dawgs to "a standard". You know exactly what that means.
BTW, I don't know what you are seeing, up there in Athens..., but, it seems to me CKS is applying Special Forces recruiting standards to find football players at the High School level. In other words, a lot more goes into his player evaluation, than physical attributes.
Then....when he gets em, he trains em like Special Forces. That's why UGA's TP attrition and retention rate is so high (or is it). I'm sure you guys experienced a lot of DOR's (drop-on-request) in your training...I know we did. That appears to be what's going on in Athens.
Anyway, good luck, Man. Keep Finebaum straight. But, cut the ole boy some slack. He hasn't been right all year, LOL.
BTW...Just between us...nobody else is gonna read this, Lol...I think South Carolina is gonna upset Tennessee this weekend. The weather is going to play a part in that, IMO. And,
Rattler is due for a breakout performance. The defense is proficient at forcing turnovers (11 INTs)...and Hooker is due for a bad game (every QB has 1 in them). The extreme cold will make that football a lot tougher to hold on to.
That's why a football is sometimes referred to as a rock. LOL. In cold weather, that's what it feels like.
I think USC has had this game circled for a while and may have been looking ahead a little bit, when they played KTY last week. This is South Carolina's Bowl Game and Championship game, all rolled into one.
USC 22...TENN 21
@MikeGriffith
USC 63....TENN 31
What'd I tell ya about Rattler and South Carolina,, Mike? Lol...and I didn't bet a **** thing. We don't have bookies around here.
