Even though winning H is unlikely, it would have to feel good for him to win a fan vote after the onslaught of negative fans last year and this one as well.
Agree 1000%!!
Good pub is always welcome!
Go Dawgs!
Especially for NIL valuation.
How awesome would it be if Stet wins the fan vote, but not the award....but Nissan uses him in their ads as the Heisman House's actual mailman?
Nissan, I claim all rights to this idea. Date stamped Nov 28 2022.
Hey, Vote for Stet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the support from fans for Georgia plays is awesome, but there's an underlying reality that the numbers don't support Stet as a Heisman finalist this year. -- As of late, Kirby has acknowledged things have been up and down.
I think we will keep voting for him. He had a sizeable lead as of this morning…so likely not just Georgia fans voting for him. There is more than mere stats to being a great player, or even the best player. 😉
@Hemingwey As I said, fan votes show great loyalty!
Truth hurts
Stetson's place in Georgia history is secured -- 2021 was a magical season with an incredible ending none of us will forget -- and he improved this offseason and quarterbacked another unbeaten season! Remarkable accomplishments, while also pioneering more than $1 million in NIL money that will show future quarterbacks what could be waiting for them!
Such an odd result when Caleb Williams is the clear favorite to win the award
That is true, but Stet's stat comparison looks a LOT better once you filter out everyone's cupcake Go5 and FCS games. A lot of the top SEC QBs really feasted on those games to pad their stats. Against P5 teams Stet has been pretty outstanding.
#1 in total yards
#3 in Comp%
#2 in YPA
#4 in passing TDs
#3 in passer rating
By the way, only UGA and fla played 10 P5 teams. Everyone else played 9.
Stetson is now a legend along with Buck Belue. He is most likely playing his last few competitive games in the coming weeks and I sure hope he goes out on top.
This isnt a knock on Stetson but down the road very curious what Monken can do with one of these 5 stars.
Me too. They are athletic and can run. They are also reputed to have very strong arms. Since CTM plans according to the athlete's strengths, he can be very, very creative. I think.
@pgjackson Pretty sure Mississippi State, Kentucky and Georgia Tech are P5 teams -- and Stetson has not played consistently or elite in any of those games despite having an elite offensive line and arguably the best pass-catcher in CFB in Brock Bowers and the best pass-catching back since Todd Gurley (over 400 yards receiving)
There's no need to try to convince people their eyes are lying -- when Stetson plays well, UGA is unbeatable, .But when he doesn't the margin for error shrinks as we saw at Missouri and in recent games.
Georgia likely doesn't need Stet at his best against LSU, but it will in the CFP Semifinals, regardless of who the Dawgs play.
Not sure what your point is. You went with raw stats, I filtered out all the Go5 and FCS games. It makes a big difference. Stet has played his best games against the best opponents. KY and GT were not his best, but so what? And I see you are still hung up on the Missouri game. Young only had 7 completions, 1 TD 1 INT and 173 yards Against Arky, and only 213 yards and 1 TD against Texas. He only had 1 TD and 1 INT against LSU in a loss. Do we hold those games against him? Williams only had 180 yards, 44% completions and 1 TD against Oregon St in a 17-14 nailbiter. How about Stroud's performance against NW? Yeah it was freezing cold....just like the KY game. Point is, every QB has some down games. And 67% completions, 289 yards and 3 TDs against MSU is not a consistent performance? What standard are you holding him to?
There has been a lot of speculation about Stet maybe being injured. Have you asked Smart about it? We went from averaging about 35 passes a game to 19 per game the last two. Why is that? Seems like a reasonable question to ask.
"We went from averaging about 35 passes a game to 19 per game the last two. Why is that? Seems like a reasonable question to ask."
Agreed!! Inquiring minds want to know.......
Go Dawgs!
I’ll stick by what I said originally—stat crunching should only be one factor. BTW, Stet leads the SEC this year in the most important stat… wins as starting QB.
I think you have to view stats through the lens of what the team does, its style of offense, who it plays, etc. Even then, IMHO, stats should be only one factor in determining the Heisman winner.
As far as consistency, I can’t think of any QBs who do not have one or more statistically unimpressive games this year.
P.S. I will keep voting for Stetson every morning. He is the face of the Georgia Bulldogs—easily the best team in the land this season thus far.
Buck Belue is a Georgia legend, but he was no Stetson Bennett. 😉
