The Antman .... an NBA all-star

Anthony Edwards was one of the classiest and most polite Georgia athletes I have ever covered -- right there with Jake Fromm with how well he represented himself and his teammates and the school.

I talked to a track athlete once about who the nicest "star" athletes were of that era, and she said Anthony Edwards by far, as she didn't even know he was a basketball player, much less a star. He was that polite. Most football players, she said .... well .... LOL

he seems like an all around good dude. Seems like he’s been in the nba for awhile and only 21. He’s going to be a superstar.

We really blew it with Edwards. UGA's not known for basketball and landing a talent like him and then not going on a tourney run has never set well with me.

That didn't help but it's not like the pandemic only hit GA. Crean never got the buy-in from the locker room and was unable to recruit the right talent to surround Edwards. Its inexcusable for a school in a conference that historically does not perform well in basketball to not dominate it given that Atlanta is such a hub for young talent.

@Bulldawg90 Crean never got the buy-in from the boosters that buy players --and he wasn't gonna broker deals. Half the league was under FBI investigation. (note: you could argue crime pays in collegiate athletics). Look at who Ant was surrounded by on that roster .... SMH. Crean's mistake was not dumping what he inherited and starting over, like he did at Indiana when he built a two-time Big Ten championship program. Good news is that Mike White has a lot of money behind him, and the roster looks as good as it has in years.
