Was it a shoot out before Miller showed up with a loaded gun?
How do you know his friend didn’t shoot in self-defense? Generally, bringing guns into any situation doesn’t improve anything especially when you go out for the night just to hang out with people. The entire situation was dumb and avoidable but this is what the people of Alabama wanted
@YaleDawg So essentially because Miller was two handoffs away from the trigger being pulled that deems Miles as the accessory to the crime?
Is there a law against giving people their property back in Alabama? You have to look at what the laws say. Alabama just had a law go into effect that anyone 18 or older can carry a handgun with no permit, no background check, and no safety training. So the possession, transportation, and transfer of the gun are not illegal on their own. Then you have to look at intent. What was Miller’s intention in bringing the gun back to its owner? Did he know it was going to be used unlawfully? I agree he has incredibly poor judgement that’s worthy of criticism but based on the info we have available what law was broken that could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt? If you don’t like that he didn’t break a law then that’s a conversation about how the law needs to be changed.
I agree but, I carried and fired the M16 A1 (at pop up silhouette and paper targets only) and it was surprisingly accurate. I understand what is issued now is so much better. .
yeah it’s currently the M4A1 but that is being replaced by the XM7 later this year
Yikes. I always try to see both sides of things. But it's hard to envision a scenario where they just let this guy get away with bringing the murder weapon to the scene of the crime.
Edit: So a couple of spots down Yale says it wasn't even his gun. That he was just asked to return it. That's different.
Even if it wasn't his gun he still brought the murder weapon to the scene of the crime...
It wasn't a murder weapon, when he possessed it, which is what Yale was saying about the legality issue. Until the firearm was actually brandished and then fired, it seems all was legal.
We don’t know all of the information…We’ve seen some of the texts not all but if he said anything that sounds like it’s about to be used there could be more to it. It’s not like miles was at home and asked for his gun back. He was at a bar at 1 am and asked for his gun. Some part of miller had to say oh shi something is going down or let me get my teammates out of there before something happens. But maybe that’s just me. He did get his girlfriend out of the way of gunshots so he did save somebody and turned around and dropped 30 on Tuesday after (2 days) like nothing even happened. Sec player of the week
Yeah, you are right about the unknowns other than it was clearly a bad situation all around. But unless he admits that Miles said "Bring me my gun, I'm going to shoot someone", the mere handling of it might be perfectly legal, although clearly a **** move.
Agreed 💯
Yeah, he probably isn't guilty unless he went to Toppers beforehand...
I'm not an attorney, but I imagine Miller could be charged as an accessory. At the very least he should be kicked-off the team and Coach Oats placed under disciplinary actions for his insanely **** comments and potential cover-up.
Too soon?
