Chip Towers took time out extracurricular activities downtown to write up another slanderous article for the AJC. This time he wrote that Kirby’s approach to handling Adam Anderson (who he suspended immediately and have we ever even heard the results of that job?) and Jamaal Jarrett (who interviewed by police and charges were dropped) were not strong enough and that the university is protecting these alleged “sexual abusers”. We are all aware of the countless kids who have gotten the help they need because of Kirby, but Chip has his vendetta and the AJC is desperate for clicks.
But that is just today’s news. After Judd’s piece this month another one of our own (@RSDawg) left the forum for sites who weren’t in bed with Cox Media.
So is all of this because Kirby won’t grant more practice viewing time to the media? Because we know that we are not the only university with these same issues. Or are all of the hack jobs because Cox Media’s relationship with the university has been going down the drain? Just look what happened last month:
Cox Media’s WSBTV used to have that contract.

Yes I think I will sign off the site and stop consuming AJC/ Cox content myself. Shame for me because I’ve enjoyed their programming and content from people like @JeffSentell and @MikeGriffith
I don’t mind negative reporting, but it’s clear Cox had gone beyond facts and moved to spinning a narrative, symptomatic of what’s wrong with the news media in today’s world. They spin the facts for whoever’s they are for or against and ignore no bias reporting of truth.
I will move over to ON3 and try to get the same user name.

I think regurgitating something from 2021 that still has not been decided in court. If it has I apologize. What was the verdict in regards to Anderson?
As far as JJ goes the charges never happened. So we have 2 cases here of people who I believe are still innocent. 1 who is an 18 year old.
Now, I dont' see the purpose in bringing up the Anderson case unless you are just trying to muckrake the program.
It feels like a hit job. I also read about this being recycled on CBS and BRO Brothers today by a writer with ties from Knoxville. Not sure if there is a connection there but...I guess they don't like the King and want to take us down.
AJC has never been Dawgs fans since I've lived here (24 years now). They are much happier when they can write about how we choke all the time and fall short.
So this all feels like sour grapes. We must be doing something right.

Me too I think of this site , as well this site. Not anything to do with the AJC. I've had a lot of fun and some great interactions with a host of great Dawgs fans. I don't read the AJC so this is all a moot point for me. If you need to go , best wishes and thanks the last few years have been a blast!
I realize the corporate entities are under the same broad ownership umbrella, but I don’t blame DawgNation for anything published by the AJC, etc. As far as I can discern, this site is under separate management. I enjoy following the Dawgs and discussing Georgia football with my buds on DawgNation. In other words, I don’t draw a substantive connection between these entities and I’ll be here! 👍

Same here….I quit subscribing to/reading the ajc years ago…don’t need the inner stress/irritability it was causing………But I don’t see the active connection between this site and that rag.
I enjoy this site and the interaction I have with the folks here…..I get the news about the Dawgs that I want to see here, I respect the contributions from its members and could give a rat’s a$$ about outside pundits, talking heads, naysayers and muckrakers who try to tear down the program I love ! Their opinions don’t change what I think nor add to or detract therefrom.

Well I am certainly not going to resign from this site and am certainly not defending the AJC. But I read the story today and if half of what was reported about Jarrett's behavior is true, I am going to have a hell of a hard time rooting for this kid. I was always under the impression that Kirby had a zero tolerance policy for sexual misconduct, and Jarrett's behavior is a bit suspect to me.
I really have no problem with sexual activities among consenting college students and had ample such experiences as an undergraduate. I would certainly be disturbed if allegations that the police generally look the other way about misconduct allegations if the alleged party is a Georgia Football player--a claim I find hard to believe. Downvote me or call me anything you care to, but I have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, especially by those formally representing the Red and Black. Period. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
I believe the biggest problem is not what they are reporting……their job is to report…….but it is the way the ajc and certain reporters attached to it seem to have an agenda in how they report
What is their end goal? What are they trying to accomplish? It seems there is more to it than just reporting the news…..
Holding this board accountable for what an AJC journalist writes is just laughable.
Funny how this site is FREE yet people go to 247 media owned(CBS/Paramount) and On3 owned by former 247 CEO and PAY to post or even read.
People can go wherever they like, hate to see any go but don't cry about it, just leave. Change your password to something you cannot remember and delete the bookmark.
Criticism of AJC has and I am sure will still be allowed. Nothing has been said to me or the other Mods to think otherwise.

Back to the main issue. I think the story was a hatchet job. I think this particular writer is throwing all the stuff together to gin up negativity towards the program.
First whatever Anderson did he is going to pay for it as he should. He has already paid somewhat for his actions by not making millions of dollars and now doubtful he can use his talent anywhere even if found innocent of the charges. Since we do not know the entire story I think it is best to see what the courts say. However, this writer is saying Coach Smart didn't do something he was suppossed to? I'm not sure from what has been put in the paper that that is accurate at all. I think, he the writer, of the story had better have more than what he wrote or he may find himself in a lawsuit from 1 or more parties.
This same writer wrote 1 or 2 stories earlier in the year and I guess it wasn't getting enough traction so he needed to write another? It really does not make sense...
On the speeding tickets. My son got a speeding ticket here in Arcade which is a speed trap as most people know. So I'm not sure speeding tickets for young people amounts to a hill of beans.
It is quite unfortunate that a young man who was a minor drank beer. Shocking...
again not much to say here except trying to turn this into something it is not. Allegations that are dropped are no better than heresay and maybe the young man's parents should sue the AJC since no charges were filed. Not sure but they should definitely think about. Accusations are just that. Not worth crap.
The end goal is click$. And ultimately this starts and ends with us, the readers. For several years now I've tried to make it a point not to read the sensational/emotional stories.
I read the reporting for what it is - investigative reporting.
I, too, have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct and the J.Jarrett portion is disturbing. Full Stop.
I think there were some interesting points being made about CKS/UGa allowing students to go as character witness, having Gantt be the "fixer", and the speeding tickets but, with respect to those parts, I would like to see how this compares against the larger CFB landscape because I'm sure this ain't the only place that has this setup. To that end, it feels like the story should've been a micro- to a larger more benign culture across the football landscape.
I don't particularly agree with drawing conclusions about the governance of the football program based on some of the normal happenings of these kids - I bet if you pulled data from ACC police and the school, you might see that the trend is widespread, it's just that these kids are in the same group and have a little more money.
It does seem that CKS motto is, if they are not found to be guilty of things then we will handle it internally and if they are, they are off the team. In that way, he's trusting that they will do their job. I'm not sure how I feel about it but I don't know what I would do in that position and I'm glad I never have to be.
Overall, I'm sure people are poking around corners and I'm sure questions should be asked of CKS. And they should be - he's the HC, that's the gift and the curse of the role and the $$.
