Lolol...I was about to say...Auburn can't even keep a HC a full 2 years...and Florida, just does squeak in there. I don't agree with the Coach narrative. Not the same thing, IMO. Besides...2 years isn't gonna make that much difference. That's just one year longer than it is now.

The way I look at it, 2 years affords everybody the opportunity to put their best foot forward. Is the Coach adequate and is the player responsive. It seems that it would be hard for either side to establish that in 1 year...with everybody on the Kid's back about how much so-and-so is getting on the black market, at USC (or, wherever).

If the "coaching and facilities" or logistics that you covet, weren't there when you committed...and, they weren't there, when you signed. Using those reasons as "excuses" to transfer one year later not only "makes no sense"...but, it's a child's game. Why are we tolerating it?

That being said...if a tenured Head Coach...I'll say minimum 5 yr qualifier... is fired or quits within 1 year of your signature...you may transfer. But, only after an interview with the "new HC". How's that? Afterall, they should bare some responsibility of a HC's firing, since they're "part of the team". I'm thinking of Harson and Mullins here. It should be the new HC's option to allow you to exit...or, not.

If the "new HC" wants to keep you...you must give him one year to prove himself. If you aren't happy after that...you're free to leave. Obviously, there could be some form of arbitration, with specific criteria laid out...where a waiver may be granted.

I never say, "never"...Lol. But it should be controlled, no different than a parent with a child. Boundaries.

How the hell does anybody expect a head coach to control a "traffic issue" when they have NO control of the first 2 years of a player's growth and sampling adulthood? Where does the accountability and responsibility begin and end? Boundaries.

    Mr. Griffith,

I would ask that you focus on the awesome young men who are fully committed to UGA football. I wish Mr. Alexander the best...but true Georgia fans have too many fully committed athletes we would rather you focus on. Mr. Sentell did a fantastic article reviewing the talent that our great coaching staff have recruited to wear the red and black. That's the type of article I think most Bulldog fans will take the time to read IMO.

I remember when Jarvis Jones transferred from USC to UGA for medical reasons in 2010...that turned out to be a great story for Jones and UGA, but I'm not getting the same vibe with Bear going the other way. I wish him the best, but would have loved to see him show some patience and finish up as a Dawg. He could have easily reached legendary status like Davis and Carter before him. Maybe he will at USC, but he seems to have sold out for stardom in now vs the next level.

Lincoln Riley is a low-life. Basically tampering. Perfect fit for "Bear," who thinks he's owed snaps.

I still have never understood why they couldn't just go back to the old rule of making a kid sit out a year when they transfer unless they have graduated from their former school or their former school completely eliminates football. (Yes, sit out even if the coach leaves because, the kids ALL claim, they didn't commit to a coach, they committed to a school). Neither Congress nor the Supreme Court said that was illegal or wrong and as far as I know, no one had successfully sued in a court of law to force an immediate transfer when the old rule was in effect. I would eliminate waivers. If your mom or dad or grandpa is sick, you can still transfer and get a scholarship right away -- but you have to wait a year to actually play. If we simply go back to that, I think the vast majority of issues with the TP, will go away. Go Dawgs!

I absolutely agree. I don't see the need for a "Transfer Portal". Some kids that age are just attracted to the "idea" of a "new start". Some would start fresh anew every year, if they could "get away with it", rather than face and overcome adversity. Pretty much the antithesis of what the "College Experience" is supposed to provide. That's just a characteristic of being "that age", if you know what I mean.

If you were going to Harvard, and got a Legal Professor you didn't like, or you were having an especially difficult time getting along with your roommate...what would you do?. Transfer to Yale....or, maybe NYU?. Kids that age are generally impulsive and immature.

Obviously, there are many exceptions...but, you could say the same thing about 6 yr olds. Some are further ahead than others...and some... further behind. You don't base your rules and regulations on the needs of the few outliers...you base them on the average and deal with the outliers on a case-by-case basis. That's just my opinion...for whatever it's worth. Lol

I think if they tweak the rules so you need to declare you want to transfer a month or 2 before the spring game or something that will suffice imo. The new rule this year is you get 1 freebie and then the 2nd one requires graduation or some other extenuating circumstances. It is a good idea that since they are all legal adults that both coaches and players follow the same rules on leaving. You need to do it a month or 2 before spring practice or you sit out that following fall. My reasoning for that is you have unintended consequences on so many others by leaving the day before spring ball or the day before fall practice or whatever. That is just completely unprofessional and is teaching the players and other coaches that there are no consequences.

Just my take probably will not amount to a hill of beans. I thought about that at halftime this year at the G game while I wondered who would be so unthoughtful but to transfer the day before after going through all of spring practice. On the flip side, I remember quite a few really bad examples of coaches who did the same or worse. So let's tighten it up for everyone involved.
