Not "all of em". The vast majority of these kids know they will never play a down in the NFL. The odds are against em, even if they are talented, have the desire and "fit the mold"...just from a numbers standpoint.

IMO...You have to put a monetary value on playing for a School and Coaching Staff, like UGA's. Track record matters more to the wannabe Pro-Bowlers, than it ever has before; and I'm sure that's in the decision making process for most of players on Kirby's recruiting board.

From what i see..."Top NFL-Grade Talent" is starting to gravitate toward the school's that will offer them the best coaching and most exposure...UGA, Bama, USC, Colorado, OSU, Michigan...now, "maybe" FSU replaces Clemson as the class of the ACC.

Lol...Don't know who's gonna replace Texas and Oklahoma in the BIG12...but, they can go ahead and roll up the sidewalks on them, as far as I'm concerned. I'll bet they have a lot of their "elite players" transfer out after this year. Exposure has value...and, if you aren't winning, you aren't exposed.

Recruit says...."so what you're offering a million dollar signing bonus. UGA is gonna give me 5 million dollars in Coaching, Education, Public Relations, Preparation for the next level...and, National Exposure, advertising my Brand, without making it about Me.". Now....THAT has value. IMO

Yeah, I'll be honest. When I first saw him say that it had me scratching my head. The guys we already have, plus the commits, plus a portal transfer? I don't recall the last time Georgia, or anyone, had 7 scholarship runningbacks. But that was before Etienne declared he'd had enough of Florida, and isn't necessarily seeking the highest bidder. If you can actually get a proven player at the SEC level, with the combination of injury recovery and inexperience Georgia will be dealing with next year, I think you have to go for it.

And honestly I would really hate to see any of the others transfer, and I hope it doesn't come to that. But I have a hard time believing that bringing in a guy who you know can be productive from day 1 wouldn't be the best thing for the program right now. Even assuming there are some transfers, they're not all going to leave after one year, and the ones that stay will in all likelihood be the ones that the staff feels the best about going forward.

It depends on their priorities. In today's game...you can't be too sure.

I give Bowers a 50/50, if I'm reading him right. We'll see. I'm sure he's wrestling with it.

It might depend on where he's projected to go. It's hard to go from being a Champion on display every weekend...to playing for a cellar dweller Getting beat up every Sunday. For all we know...he may already be a millionaire. So...money may not be as big a factor in the decision making process.

I wouldn't be disappointed or surprised, either way. He's one of the best "Football Players" I've ever seen. It was a privilege to be able to watch him go at the game in such ferocious fashion...every single Saturday and every single play...even hurting. God didn't make many like that. Lol

I put McConkey right up there with Scott Woerner, Lindsey Scott, Champ & Boss Bailey and Mecole Hardman as impact player extraordinaire...making plays all over the field, running, blocking, catching and Special Teams. I'm sure I'm missing a few...but, you get the gist. Lol. He's another "ballplayer".

Impassioned? Did you see ANY capital letters? Did you see any "???" or "!!!" ? Matter of fact. As always.

    @BigDawg61

"Recruit says...."so what you're offering a million dollar signing bonus. UGA is gonna give me 5 million dollars in Coaching, Education, Public Relations, Preparation for the next level...and, National Exposure, advertising my Brand, without making it about Me.". Now....THAT has value. IMO"

SMH. You HOPE that is what recruits are thinking. Most of these young players come from middle class or less families. Life changing money NOW. Of the Top 20 players on Rivals, 14 different programs were selected. These kids are kids. They think they can have their cake (NIL) and eat it too (NFL$$$). That they are so good they can take the money now and become superstars at any of the top 10-15 or more programs. They are going to the best situation that can pay the most. Who wouldn't?

Brock Bowers is not coming back. CKS will chase him out the door if BBs even suggests it. I'd be surprised if BBs plays in the Bowl game. No need to. Milton is not coming back. Edwards is not coming back. McConkey would shock me if he came back. SVPG, Rat, AMims.....none of those guys are coming back. ALL of those guys (exc SVPG) missed time this season due to injuries. It is time to cash in for lifetime security.

    @E_Roc

Just saw your comments. ETN may not be after a bag. He may want to play for a contender. I believe 1 of his finalists initially was UGA. But what we have seen evolve in CFB over the last year is unrestricted (for 1 transfer) FA and an unconditional money grab. Gotta wonder who of the big programs will give him a chance to play for a winner AND a bag of money. Certainly more than UGA has traditionally doled out. TX? OR? OSU? OK? MI? Home state LSU? FSU so he can stay close to his brother?

We can debate RB's playing yr 1. Probably better for ANY freshman to spend a year maturing (size and strength) and preparing for the leap in competition. Not a mind reader. But 3 years of Frazier (and possibly Davison) is better than 1 of ETN. ETN and Frazier are similar players that would have similar roles. Why plant any seeds of discontent? The most likely transfer would be Roderick Robinson. He red shirted this season and has 4 years of eligibility left. He was committed to UCLA and is a long way from home. Right now he is, probably, also UGA's healthiest RB.

IF UGA can fit ETN in the RB room seamlessly he could definitely help. We saw that after all the RB injuries UGA had in '23. BUT it is a slippery slope when money gets involved and egos are involved. Again, traditionally, CKS's "philosophy" SEEMS to have been to come to UGA, be developed with the best and earn what you will get.

If you only had limited NIL money to spread around would you give it to another RB (ETN) or a potential D cornerstone like DT Walter Nolen? UGA has bigger needs than a 7th RB.

NIL and the transfer portal will eventually destroy college football. There is very little loyalty to anyone or anything these days.

Yep. Agree. Those two things and Other things going on in CFB are unfortunately a mirror reflection of much of our society. There are Still people who want to work for a living. There are Still people who are patriotic and loyal to our flag and country. There are Still people who are honest, fair, have solid integrity. BUT these positive things unfortunately are a minority in our country now.

And getting worse every day. I know I sound pessimistic and my apologies, but it’s a reality. Our govt. as it is now is a perverted joke. Many of our educational systems seem to Only educate on social issues, and have greatly diminished Practical issues that would help enable our youth to compete and survive on a National and global basis.

The country I Love with All my heart is Rapidly sinking. These things ( as in time they naturally would) have seeped into sports, CFB not exempt. Yes I will continue to watch Dawgs football as I Love them and have been a fan far to long to quit now. But I don’t see much hope for it getting better. I’m thinking the decline will continue. For Me CFB was one of if not THE last bastions of entertainment and bonding and building of solid relationships for and between Men primarily. It’s only a matter of Short time where we’ll be wondering about the size of our new Female Defensive Linewoman or LB etc. etc.

And Forget fairness, non-bias and honesty those will be nothing but a rotten corpse. I am Blessed to know that surely I can’t have much time left on this ole earth. It’s my adult children and grandchildren I feel sorry for. Until the Lord comes they’ve got a rough, rough future to face. P.S. Sorry this has such a negative take but unfortunately in my humble opinion that’s the reality we’re facing.

I will say that it seems like we are coming to the end of an era in College football and a new one has begun. Hard to believe that the new one will be better than the old one. Of course the young pups won't know what to compare it to. I'll be just an old guy saying, "I remember when playing for pride and the team you grew up rooting for used to mean something."

Sadly, there won't be any more 8 year old Stetson Bennets saying to his mom and dad." I've got to start training to play for Georgia" and then growing up and making the team as a walk-on and then not getting your chance to play, leaving to start at QB for a Junior college team, leading them to the playoffs and a bowl victory, then being recruited to come back to UGA on full scholarship, then being buried in the depth charts and being told he would never start at UGA by the OC. But due to a QB quitting the team, another being injured and the starter they decided was a better option than Bennet laying an egg in his opportunity and they had to go to Stetson and he delivered.

But it was literlly baby steps as the season progressed but it would eventually payoff and by overcoming one obstacle after another and through perseverance he grabbed the reigns of the QB position and never let go the following year! Leading his DAWGS to COllege Football immortality and winning 4 MVP awards along the way. (Who is going to make a movie about this?) .

Stetson showed what QB's in the future will think this true story was something someone made up- staying around when the chips were down and waiting for your opportunity and making the most of it and leading your team to back-to-back National Championships! Wow! The young ones will say to themselves, "to hell with that!" Sad!

As for Dawgs football Right Now in This moment. To Me you just about can’t have enough Quality RBs. Key word Quality. Of course there are exceptions and provisos. That’s true of any positions on the team.

But we’ve clearly seen in several different years that multiple injuries can decimate the RB room and quickly at that. A solid team hunting a Championship NEEDS at least Four Quality RBs in my humble opinion. Because ( and this is Not the first year at all that we’ve seen this) one can get knocked totally out of the season, another dinged bad enough to miss a few games and not be fully 100% when they come back.

That leaves you with only Two Quality guys for every game of the season. So your one injury away from being a One Quality RB team. And unless he’s an every Run down RB your in deep trouble !! So having Five is not a stretch in my opinion.

The thing is just be Totally Honest with all five at the start of practices and Tell them clearly. OK gents who ever does the best and makes the most of snaps they get in practice and in the first few real games we play Will Be our starting rotation.

So your gonna have to Earn your spot. No give me’s here. And past accomplishments hold little consideration. May the best guys win. That would be Total transparency, and I think most guys would appreciate that. Best of my knowledge that’s how Kirby runs his program.

I have a feeling, this thing is gonna impact everything from Pee Wee Football..to HS Football. Creeping Commercialism. Money at the top is starting to trickle down.

I just wonder how corrupt they're willing to allow it to become, before they make a decisive move to "control it".

IMO...The problem is...The people that need to "make the move to control it"...are currently getting their palms greased. No incentive to stop it. Kinda like Congress, DOJ, CIA...and pretty much every governing aspect of our Society. What're gonna do?. Lol

That's why I have the freedom to declare the winner of the Orange Bowl...National Champion! Or, at the very least...Co-NC.

Will the system implode at the high school level...or, will they wait till recruiters are chasing athletic kids around on the sandlot, in Grammer School...or, Kindergarten?. Lmao

  • navydawgnavydawg Posts: 3,545 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Preach it Brother !! Preach it !! There’s still Some people on the same wave link as you !! If our govt. is willing to screw its veterans. Then corruption can Easily get into sports EASIlY !! And it Has !!

Did you know that the VA is helping Illegal Immigrants get IMMEDIATE Health care ?? But mean while countless vets are waiting on their CBOPC (Community Based Out Patient Care) this is when the VA doesn’t have the resources to treat a vet, they farm the vet out to a commercial healthcare facility. Supposed not to cost the vet anything if the vet is in a priority 1or 2. But it has ME twice now !! And countless other vets. Some vets have Died waiting on care. !!

So our govt. is saying that people who Sneak into our country Illegally are More important than vets !! So CFB is surely not exempt from corruption either !! Dawgs and FSU were blatantly Cheated. It really is That simple.

Yep...the cherry on top, is that families and travelers to the Army vs Navy Game, today....Had to find new accommodations, as the Hotel owners were compelled to give their Reserved rooms to illegal immigrants due to a migration problem in their City.

Illegal immigrants were given better accommodations than any soldier or sailor, ever had...at the expense of Fans wanting to see a National Football game between it's Country's finest. And, that's supposed to make me feel...how?...as a Veteran...or, Citizen, for that matter. Lol...man, they're lucky I'm not in my twenties anymore.

I say...move the Army vs Navy game down South. No more problem. Lol

  • navydawgnavydawg Posts: 3,545 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

My good Bro. our once great nation is going to hell in a hand basket and Fast !! And some people think that sports including CFB just Can’t be corrupt ?? Lol I’d love to do some business deals with people that naive !! No I couldn’t do Em that way my parents raised me better.

I Know the Dawgs made some bad plays in that game. I saw those things. But corrupt officiating helped Bama in a big way to over come a very beat up and banged up Dawgs team. And even then only by 3 points !!

As you stated on the other thread and I Absolutely and Totally agree, a fully healthy or close to Dawgs would beat the brake shoes off Bama !! So as You, Me, and Some others clearly see, NO Bama is Not a better team than UGA. And if Justice were served they should Not be in the Playoffs !!

Now what I’m wondering like you and some others, these Crooks got away with plugging Bama in. That probably emboldened them all the more, how far will they go in years to come ? They don’t seem to even Care about vaguely attempting to hide their bias and unfairness !! As a Dawgs fan I’m hotter than a two dollar pistol over this Crap, I can’t imagine how FSU fans must feel !!

Who is this guy trying to fool? Etienne may not be in it for the money but his agent/lawyer is. His agent has already convinced him to enter the portal with the promise of getting a deal to play for a higher rated program AND get big bucks. That means Texas or Bama is at the front of the line. Georgia is going to have to get its bucks in a row before they can capture top in-state talent or the Etiennes looking for a ring AND big bucks. Not sure anyone can match Texas oil money.

You know...you bring up a darned good point. A point of view I haven't seen or heard before. And, I didn't think of it. Lol

Who are these worms behind the kids? The demons possessing their futures and the future of "the game"?

They are spiraling out of control...and, if somebody doesn't man the helm...Division 1 CFB is gonna crash and burn. The NFL might be right behind them.

What kind of webs are these "con-men and businessmen" spinning behind the scenes. Beyond anyone's oversight.

Man!...this thing is as transparent as a Georgia swamp.
