- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I’ll ask Techie Hubby.
I ran the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso on July 4, 1999. Interesting race above the Arctic Circle so we started at 10pm on July 3 and finished on July 4 around 2am. Never got dark.
@TurkDawg I too have a pretty strong Summertime memory of being in a distant region (by Latitude anyway) nearby to where you speak of (Planet Earth, and Globe-wise), although not nearly as impressive as you were by running in a 26.2 mile marathon!!! I went up to Alaska during the summer of say perhaps either it was 1985, or maybe it was instead during 1986? I cannot remember precisely, as my own memory is slipping with my age. I will turn 61 years old in May of this year. Anyway, I was in the active duty ranks as a young United States Marine Corps Corporal, and we (my USMC military unit) were temporarily up at the Air Force Base known as Elmendorf AFB, there in Anchorage, Alaska for a few weeks during June of one of those two years. We were all coming out of a local area bar late, late one evening (actually it was very early in the morning), after we had all been consuming vast quantities of adult beverages all evening long, and it was bar closing time. I was STUNNED to see as it was after 2:00 am in the morning, and it was STILL LIGHT OUT!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!??? I will never forget that for as long as I live. Crazy thing being somewhere up close to being nearby to the Arctic circle of the earth during the Summer months. The skies up there looked something like this photo that I found:
Here is a YouTube video I also found of driving around there in Anchorage at MIDNIGHT in the Summer:
FREAKING WOW!!!!
Just for fun, here’s a blog post I wrote about my Antarctica 🇦🇶 marathon experience. Not your everyday run.

Turk, it is hard to find the word to describe how impressed I am with your story and how much respect I have for your "runner's mind". As a former coach, I know a bit about what goes into marathons and marathon training. My guiding principle has always been, "if God meant for us to go that far, that's why He invented cars". Your mental toughness is now legendary in my mind. Feel free to keep me (and, hopefully, others) up to date on your running exploits.
Well I am sitting in a bar on a cruise ship in Narvik Norway. I promise there will be no marathons !
I was sitting here watching Arsenal defeat Burnley 5-0.😎
I'm still here.
I see you bro, I am at a Starbucks for the day just to hangout.😎
Thanks for sharing that, truly amazing.
Actually? I am right here at my work today: (this has been my employer since 01/1999) at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
Two short aerial drone videos (2 minutes each) of our campus overlooking the Pacific Ocean nearby the campus of UCSD in La Jolla, California.
GO DAWGS!!!
sorry you have work in such horrible conditions!!
Not only is there not much discussion, I hate the new layout.
