GO DAWGS!!!
My mother was a great fan of his and for years I got her Lewis's latest book for Christmas. He seemed to put one out every year for a decade or so. In a 5 year period I was able to get Lewis to autograph his book for my mother 3 times. Twice while drinking in the Peachtree cafe and the he other one while drinking in Harrison's on Peachtree. He was always gracious and just funny as hell. I miss him and Larry!
Living out west, I'd pick up his books and "hear" all those great folk back in the Georgia piedmont.
M Dad, rest his soul, would walk in to my place after a flight from his home in California and immediately look for he Atlanta Journal. He was searching for Grizzard's column. He considered he man one of the funniest he had ever encountered. Had there been e-subscriptions back then, he would have immediately signed up.
GO DAWGS!!!
I read all his books as a child. He was from right up the road in Moreland. Not far from LaGrange where I grew up.
I remember he had to be kicked out of the soft-opening night of the Chili's in 1990 because he was so drunk and making a scene with the guests he brought. 😁
I've always liked LaGrange. Also, I saw my first KKK rally there - live. Kind of amazing.
GO DAWGS!!!
can you imagine having a few beers with Lewis Grizzard and Jeff Foxworthy?
What a time THAT would be!!!!
Frankly, I'd rather hang with most of the Dawg brothers and sisters on here, who are at least as insightful and funny, but just haven't had your big breaks - yet! 😉
Our society needs more humor. Thankfully I think comedy is making a comeback
