Project or projected 2025 starter? Here’s the real Intel on 6-foot-11 new Bulldog OT Jahzare Jackson
How good can 6-foot-11 Jahzare Jackson be at Georgia? We asked his positional trainer just how good. The reply back was "Generational talent."

Jeff & DawgNation, this guy will be fun to watch! What an intriguing story!
Maybe just bring him in for Pass Blocking at first. With the number of OL studs we are going to have we could rotate some for sure. How do you throw over the kid? He might block the sun.
Best of luck to the kid. Hope he fulfills his dreams.
It’s definitely going to be fun watching this guy develop and I hope he can quickly make the transition. Can one of you experts explain to me why he is not eligible to play basketball at UGA? Maybe because he declared for the NBA draft or was paid as a semi-pro. That all seems crazy with some college players making million$ in NIL deals and are still eligible. Go Dawgs!!!
To quote Hannibal from The A Team….."I love it when a plan comes together"…….Kirby and Coach Stacy have the 24 Dawg O-Line ripe for a Joe Moore! So, the standard will have been set for the 25 Dawg O-Line…..given Jah and the line up all I can say is quote Mr. T… "I pity the poor fool, (opposing D-Lines) that face the 25 Dawg offense!
So, I read where UGA is in the running for a 6' 5"" 5 star receiver out of NEveda? WHy no mention?
Why not give this guy a shot at tight end? With his bball background, he must have decent hands.
because he won’t be a dawg
Why not just train him as an OT first? He’s not likely to be here longer than 2 years
if he picks Georgia, he’s likely to want to stay because he needs development. Anyway, in the summer doldrums, we’re just shooting *it. Let us have our fun! 😀
In that vein, I have a question: Would it be possible to use him as defensive end - particularly in kicking situations?
I know that he if he can’t stay low or juke ‘em , he could be an easy OT target down low. But if he can, RBs would have a hard time getting around those long arms, QBs would have to throw pop ups (more likely to be intercepted) and kickers wouldn’t be able to line drive long field goals.
Like the old campfire song: So high you can’t go over it, so tall you can’t go around.
I've got a sincere question - does someone that tall make it hard for our QB to see downfield? Carson is 6'4", so Jah's shoulders are eye-height to him. Isn't it like blocking out a section of the field?
Putting him as a DE against long field goal attempts will be awesome. The guy is 6'11" and has a basketball player's vertical!
All in, I think this is fun to see how it turns out. Go Dawgs!
yeah thats what I was thinking. On the OL, he blocks OUR QB’s vision; on the DL, he blocks ThEiR QB’s vision.
also easier for a smaller big man to get up under him and neutralize him if he plays DL.
True. But on the whole leverage is more important for O-linemen, doncha think? For example, a defensive end can go around the OT but the OT doesn't have that option. Plus on D, his long arms can grab at anyone trying to get out of the backfield (or at least disrupt things) even if he's being blocked.
I'm just playing it through in my ignorant mind though. 😊 All the experts seem to be thinking of him on the OL. So I don't doubt that makes more sense.
when you think of Jonathan Ogden of Baltimore Ravens that’s a good size comp. The long arms actually help with those end rushes and keep them from getting in the pocket.
if he’s on the DL no matter how far he bends the opposing OL will get lower and get right up under him. It’s a physics advantage for the OL.
Good points. Thanks.
Then again, you've got counter examples in Ed "Too Tall" Jones, the Cowboys All-Pro DE at 6'9", and Morris Stroud, who had a less successful career as a TE at 6'10".
I'll grant though that those two played eons ago, when the game was quite different. For instance, Stroud used to block FGs from under the goal posts, which would be considered goaltending today.
