SEC fire: Tennessee’s marquee win, Auburn coach called out, Missouri close call
ATHENS — The SEC provided an afternoon of wide-eyed, popcorn-munching action and entertainment, with Tennessee winning the day.

Mike. Not sure the term “lowly” describes the 2024 Commodores. Vandys record may not be top 25, but they are playing inspired football. Thru the first 1/4 of the season .
When you call out your players, the end is near. Nothing but bad comes from it. It's divisive and breeds resentment. And a rush to the portal. Auburn will be a shadow of itself next year.
Yep, like I said before, appears the Vols are going to be a handful. Their defense looks impressive. Nico has played better but did enough to win. RB Sampson & Bishop provided the punishing ground game that wore down the Sooners. Ole Miss keeps rolling, but they still haven't played anyone. KY coming to town next weekend. Mizzou never should have been a #7 ranked team, and they showed it yesterday.
Just my humble opinions, appropriate $$ coupled with them will get you a sammich at Mickey D’s though I prefer Burger King 😀 The Mizzou vs Vandy at the Tigers home shows ANY team can have an off day. OU has a pretty stout Defense that and the Vols penalties and mistakes is the only thing that kept them in the game, OU Offense was very weak and their OC made some very strange play calls to. Never the less for Now the Vols are on a roll. But I think Kirby has their number and them playing our Dawgs in Athens will be a Very tough mountain for them to climb.
Arch Manning has all the markings of a potentially great QB, BUT the jury is out until he faces an Elite Defense which if the Dawgs can be healthy might be his or Ewers challenge when UGA & TX face off.
Ole Miss is rolling and yet another challenging opponent for our Dawgs. I don’t know of Any team with any tougher schedule than our Dawgs. Bama @ Bama, Ole Miss @ Ole Miss, TX @ TX, Vols at Athens but Certainly not an easy game, there are some others that if the Dawgs try to take a day off could sneak up on them.
Daunting is an understatement. Dawgs get to the playoffs less alone win the Natty they will have Most Certainly earned it. But I’d rather be an optimist instead of a pessimist, I’m Believing in Kirby and our beloved Dawgs. Win or lose I’m gonna Love them hairy beasts !! Go Dawgs !!
A shadow of a shadow of itself, considering where they are right now, and where they were just a few years ago.
I still want to see more of UT. What we learned this week is that they don’t hold up nearly as well against a team with a decent defense. Their D looked good, but we all know that OU’s offense has been trash this year, so I’m still not getting a clear picture.
MISS v KY will be interesting, though I don’t know that the deeper blue is going to play with nearly the fire they had against us. Will still be a fun watch, though.
Does this first quarter of CFB just feel weird to any of the rest of y’all this year?
Props to Clark Lea and the Commodores….definitely not top 25 but working their way up…..no longer SEC cellar dwellers, as Miss St, Auburn and Florida are fiercely fighting for the distinction…..If it were me, Freeze would be on the street Monday morning….There's a coach at UAB that would bring The War **** Eagles/Tigers/Plainsmen back.
"Tennessee appeared more dominant than the final score…Georgia and Alabama fans…surely took note of the onrushing Big Orange."
This narrative, following Tennessee finally beating a half decent team, was as predictable as Tennessee looking pedestrian against that team. Pundits don't want to acknowledge the undeniable ineptitude of OU's offense. But that's fine; again, predictable. All I can say is this Georgia fan didn't see much to fear from Tennessee in that game.
Totally classless of a Coach to call any player out in the media . Auburn has always been my most hated team , from the firehose incident to driving Aaron in the ground and how classless their coaches acted that day .
did anyone see the afterpsss tackle to the ground the UT defender hit on the OU QB? Herbstreet loved it and said it was textbook. It looked exactly like walkers take down of Vandergriff which was a 15 yard penalty
Yep. And even later in our game, their no-call hit on CB. But I think even the announcer in our game said Walker's was a good, clean hit. I sure hope Walker sees it that way, as it was textbook and needs to continue, not adjust and/or hold back next time because of a bad previous call. Go Dawgs!
If Oklahoma hadn’t had 3 turnovers, the game would have been a whole lot closer and maybe even a different outcome. It was a hard game to watch. Poor Vandy. I was hoping they would shock the world. They’ll beat someone they shouldn’t before the season is over.
Dawgs, get healthy, mind straight and pumped up this week! Go Dawgs!
Exactly the same thing I thought when it happened……the only difference was that the Tennerssee player seemed to “savor the moment “ a little more than Walker did (who jumped right up)…..
Which made the non-call even more egregious!
Go Dawgs! Hate on refs who favor the Vols!
Funny said the game was close due to turnover by UFK…
But failed to mention that after two of their turnovers, Oky gave it right
back the next play. So spare us with your uniformed biased opinion.
We know you are a Vile fan Mike.
They beat a terrible OU team that has no offense and the defense lost one of its best players.
Too bad you don't know the facts.
Gaslight much?
