yet Bobo keeps giving him WR1 reps and play calls. We know who Arian is. Time for Bobo to acknowledge that
I'm not a WR coach, but if we stop throwing to him, his confidence could be affected and he'd regress to where he was a year or two ago?
we should be using him to open the middle of the field. Let him be a depth guy that comes in and runs a vertical. If he gets single coverage with a favorable matchup then throw it to him but he mainly needs to be a decoy that can draw safety help allowing our slot guys and TEs to get open in the middle of the field
Can't disagree with any of these opinions, really. Arian has been disappointing so far and I hope he breaks out today.
As I have seen it, Smith hasn't been perfect this season, but he's been a dámn sight better than he was previously.
I don't think his primary role should be as a decoy, but it certainly is an option to use him that way. He's fast fast fast.
I don't know that he's not being used as a decoy on some plays, do you? Unfortunately, it's sometimes hard to know everything that is happening as the tv doesn't show things I tend to see as obvious when I'm watching the game from inside the stadium.
Go, Dawgs!
Arian Smith… you guys sure are hard on the guy who made his defender fall down, then caught the bomb that led to Georgia beating Ohio State. Without Arian there is no back to back National Championships—period. Further, that was not the only time a stellar play by Arian was the difference in a game.
Yes, he is inconsistent, but I am 100% in his corner. The ‘dropped’ pass ya’ll are referencing was one he could have (and arguably should have) caught, but he was tangled up with the defender as the ball was in the air and the ball placement was such that it would have been a great catch had he reeled it in. I don’t view it as a dropped pass, but a missed opportunity. Compare that to 11 interceptable throws (3 of which were intercepted) and another inexplicable fumble… for Pete’s sake, stop blaming our receivers for our QB’s shortcomings. 😑
Paragraph 1) Agree. .Paragraph 2) We must have been watching different games
Ummm… Herbie kept (rightly) saying “that should have been intercepted”… oh wait, I suspect you mean whether the pass in issue was ‘dropped’… maybe it was. I have only watched that play 6 times. I could be wrong. 🤣😇😎
Were you eating the grown up gummies?
Grown up? If you mean THC laced, no. Here are my gummy bears of choice:
The real adult gummies
Valid point, but I think we are too far down the road to worry about any specific player's confidence. AS has butter fingers. Plain and simple. He can't catch. He shouldn't be on the field, in my opinion. All that speed means nothing if you can't catch. I'm sure the Raiders will draft him in the 1st round…
Surely he can't be that much faster than the other guys we have who can actually catch… If we are going to send someone on a decoy fly-pattern, let it be someone who will catch it in case they actually get open.
I think 4.2 is way different than 4.4. Way different. A matter of yards.
Yes, in a 40 race. Doesn't really matter that much on the field, especially if you aren't a reliable receiver.
