He gotta do what he thinks is best for himself. Don’t take him to Atlanta or let him work out in the facilities. My money, he’s going to Austin. Then when they visit Athens, he’ll lose. But he’ll have his playing time and hopefully his draft stock. Best of luck.
I get first dibs on his championship rings this season. I also noticed that he didn’t thank the university or coaches. Hey pal, don’t let the door hit your _. _. _ on your way out. Go Dawgs!!!
The "man above" is not a quitter Humphrey. I do not buy that excuse. You allowed Harris to mature over you. Why? Anyway…leave the SEC and go with Liberty or UCF…. lesser division. I do wish Humphrey well. His decision.
Poor form IMO. Let him go. The middle of the field was constantly open against Tech. Find someone with the desire to change that trend.
Yep! Whether he changes his mind or not....now, "he's just somebody that we used to know". Lol
LOL, timing is indeed strange. Was he not aware that GA Tech wasn't our last game? I can't imagine any playoff team would bring him on this year so I don't see the benefit of quitting the team now. You're giving up a trip to Atlanta plus at least 1 playoff game and pretty high odds at a NC game.
But, to me, no hard feelings. If he's not a starter, then that's fine - he'll probably wind up at a lower level school and that benefits all of us.
I have never down-voted a comment on here (or up-voted) but this one gave me serious pause on hitting the down button (I didn't).
Not funny at all.
Honestly, there are a number of players (most of the '24 defense) that I would not miss if they never take the field again for UGA. Humphrey would be at the top of that list. MANY players but especially Humphrey did not improve with UGA coaching nor live up to their high school rankings. To say Humphrey was a liability at CB is a huge understatement. He was flat out bad.
As I said, I hope that 10 of the starting '25 UGA defense comes from the '24 and '25 recruiting classes with a few key transfer mixed in. Maybe Jamon Dumas Johnson will transfer back?
I could go off on the offense as well but suffice to say that the transfer portal WR experiment should be over. Secovie White, Tuggle, TTaylor, and CJ Wiley cannot be any worse than what we saw out there this season.
The title was a little misleading, Kirby had no thoughts about him.
Lol....I don't know what he's leaving for. If you can't hold down a position in Athens, after 3 "UGA years"...you won't do it in the NFL, either. And, it certainly won't get any easier.
I'm with you....Humphrey, might as well enjoy the ride on a juggernaut, while getting an education from a storied SEC Institution. I'm just sayin'....looks like he's giving up, anyway. So, why not?.
Reminds me of when Spurrier quit South Carolina....or, when Urban Meyer ran out on Florida.
I know....I know....Spurrier and Meyer have nothing to do with Humphrey. I just like to bring up their connection to Florida, everytime I'm reminded of the word "quit". Lol...and, it don't take much to remind me, this time of year.
One thing, I'll say. The word "quit", hasn't come to mind in Athens for quite a while. The Athletic Administration has done a helluva job, putting UGA football back on the map.
After the last Tech Game...we can all see, how a rising tide, lifts all boats. All Georgia Athletics have benefited greatly from Kirby's Army getting UGA over the goal line...once, Richt's Raiders got em into the Red Zone. Even Tech has a team, thanks to NIL/TP. The bugs are back and so is the rivalry! Lolol
Oh he is fully aware. Don't expect to see him again. He was unhappy for getting benched after the PI vs TN. Got "dissed" and lost his starting position.
He is fully healthy right now with a chance to get another NIL bump and land at another Power 2 program. He is not going to risk all that with 1 foot out the door at UGA by playing for UGA and risking injury.
He is a me first kid that hasn't bought in to the UGA culture. ERIV is already better than him. Nice to have the depth but he is gone.
He bailed on his coach and his teammates just before the next phase of this team's journey. The old phrase, " me first, me always" was never more prevalent.
So, he didn't have the guts to tell Kirby to his face. That says all ya need to know about him.
Thank all the "loyal" Georgia fans, you know, loyal like me. Sincerely, "loyal" Julian Humphrey
See ya later.
