A second chance and a golden opportunity…..Colbie, the road to becoming a DGD is wide open and waiting on you! I have high expectations for an outstanding last year of eligibility……GO DAWGS, SICEM!
Ironically, not long after the playoffs were completed. Anyone know where thie prosecutor went to college?
Given the resolution of this case seems it could have been resolved much sooner than this.
I, like the rest of you, followed this incident as closely as a true Dawg fan would. This legal decision makes a lot of sense.. It also allows UGA to follow up with helping Colbie get on with his life and reincorporating him, fully, into the team culture.
No man should handle women ruffly, but no woman should visit to start trouble in the middle of the night......I'd say he has learned from this experience and I would bet that it will never happen again. Hopefully....Welcome back Colbie!
Go Dawgs!
If I had to guess, he will transfer in the spring portal.
Nothing good can happen after midnight.
I agree. His best move is to wipe the slate clean and start over in a new program. UGA brought in 7 new WR's and is breaking in a new QB who is not '23 Carson Beck. When CYoung transferred in to UGA in the spring '24 he was expecting to play with '23 Carson Beck. Noah Thomas is a faster version of CYoung.
The fact that he stayed with the team and practiced says a lot about him, CKS and UGA.
:Little to no doubt he will hit the spring portal..I agree.
Kirby has many, many times been all about second chances. This case had allot of holes in it from the start. If Kirby is willing, and that’s the million $$ question to give him a second chance then I’m good with it. If he gets in any more trouble boot him off the team.
He has an advantage over the newcomers or at least Should in that he knows the playbook and can practice wide open already knowing the plays. We’ve all seen first hand how quickly the dreaded injury bug can decimate any given position unit.
Though on paper we look much better numbers wise at WR, I say that if Kirby’s good with him being back then so am I. If he elects to transfer I wish him well as long as it’s not verses our Dawgs.
He shouldn’t have any problems with being motivated to give his very best. If he has dreams of NFL he missed Allot of valuable time. So he’s gonna have to give his all if he has those aspirations.
@David1 My Dad used to say the same thing…and always when something bad happened after midnight! It was uncanny. Now that I'm older, he was right.
I feel bad for Colbie. I believe the police and prosecutor were quick to make the initial charges. There was no reason to make the arrest that night. He wasn't going anywhere and they could have easily completed a thorough investigation before the arrest. This was a classic he said, she said. For the police to come to the arrest decision in the early morning hours gave no room for a complete investigation and no time for the party's involved to have a cooling off period. She later claimed that the police reporting was not completly factual. A rush to judgement in my opinion. As far as whether he enters the portal, it should be noted Kirby stuck by him and allowed him to come back to the football facilities the minute the university allowed him to. This seemed quite different than Kirby's decisions with previous players like Rara Thomas. Maybe Colbie sticks with UGA based on Kirby's loyalty or maybe he wants a clean slate and moves on. Either way, I will be pulling for Colbie.
One more thought on this matter. He is in his apartment at midnight, minding his own business. She shows up at midnight to argue about a breakup. He tries repeatedly to get her to leave, finally picking her up at placing her outside the apartment. But HE is charged with now Disorderly Conduct! What about her conduct???
He may not be at fault, but there's a lot to learn about our society in general. Life isn't always fair. Take the second chance, work hard, and stay away from questionable women. I think Kirby will take him back. I know he can help us.
It stinks this drug out for so long. Hopefully he can return to the team, we could use him.
I hope he stays. He's a great receiver and seems like a hard worker. After this, he deserves a chance to re-write his story. Doing it here will erase that bad mojo.
