Days/weeks from dying got a new liver 6/24. 2 weeks ICU. 2 weeks later pulmonary embolism and sepsis two more weeks ICU. A month of rehab to get strong enough to walk again. 3 months in Houston hospital.
6 month scan revealed new small tumor in new liver. Biopsy led to abscess and sepsis. Two weeks in hospital, 12/18-1/4.
January was thrice daily antibiotic injections through PICC line in bicep. In hospital late January for weakened kidneys.
Back in hospital last month for 6 days due to CMV (liver virus) and Cdiff (stomach/intestinal wall inflammation due to bacterial infection). Both ailments due to too much immunosuppressants which they tweaked. Just getting over Cdiff.
Start radiation of liver tumor for first week of April. Doc says prognosis is good and clinical trial chemo based on genome testing sounds promising.
Watching a spot on lung. If it is cancer doc says we can use same radiation treatment on it.
I fight on and try to remain hopeful. Thoughts, good energy, prayers - I’ll take whatever you’re willing to provide. I lean on faith, family and friends. Blessed to be here 2.5 years after liver cancer diagnosis!

My prayers are with you brother! I’m familiar with liver transplants, my brother had one years ago. It’s a tough road, keep your head up and keep fighting. Just remember that it’s worth it for you and for those that love you, so don’t let yourself get too down, keep fighting! I know that is easy for someone on the outside to say, but heck, you’re a Dawg! You got this brother!
Prayers for you, for sure. Most importantly, stay as positive as you can. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Please keep us up to date - hopefully, hearing from us can be more good medicine..
Keep on getting well & give glory to God!!
Lord, we come to you this evening for our DawgNation brother to heal all his infirmities and his emotional, mental, and physical health. Surround him with Your love and grant him the strength to persevere through every moment. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 😎
Amen.
Best of luck, keep as positive of and outlook as you can. My brother has been battling kidney cancer for a a dozen years and with every set back he just shrugs and keeps going. Best wishes 🤞

🙏 for Dawfan. Hope to hear something. Miss you. I always guessed DawfanfromAlabam meant Dauphin Island, but not sure.
Your fight and health journey has been amazing.
It's been four months since we've heard from you, so I'm not optimistic that you survived your latest challenge — spot on your lung. Whatever the outcome, your family and friends should be proud of the fight and determination you showed us.
I certainly hope dawfanfromalabam is doing well. No matter how bad things are, things can and do get better. I just sent a prayer up for you, brother. May God bless you!
Hi everyone, this is daw(g)fanfromalabam's son posting on behalf of him. I wanted to share some sad news — he passed away last week.
Many of you knew him through years of discussions about UGA. He loved posting on these forums, even dating back when he was a mod on DawgPost decades ago. This community brought him a lot of enjoyment.
I've shared his obituary below for anyone who would like to read more about his life. Thank you for all the laughs and debates you shared with him over the years. Go Dawgs.
