Happy Easter from me and my family to you and yours Dawgs Fans !! Celebrating our Risen Lord and looking forward to that glorious day when we unite with Him in the air !!
Same to you! Hope it's a safe, and enjoyable Easter weekend for everyone!
I swear, if I were a coach, such as Nick Saban, I would retire or quit rather than kiss these player's asses.
I think Saban saw this coming, and how it would affect the sport and he stepped away. Like you, I can't really blame Saban for what he did (i agree, i would quit too before i give in to a kids demands to be paid more money). Considering it's the players that now control the sport of college football, NIL may be the end of college football as we know it. NIL has already started turning away long time fans from the game, and sadly, it will only get worse as time goes on..
Talk about missing the point! A 19 year old kid was to be paid $8,000,000 to…PLAY football. Not to mention other compensations like free cars, endorsements, etc. Come on Mike! Heck, paying a 19 year old kid a $100,000 to…play football for his university is mind boggling, but $2,000,000 a year is wacko crazy.
And yes, coaches renegotiate too. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Live up to your agreement. That basic moral principle applies to everybody - players, coaches, administrators, etc. Once you sign the contract, keep your word.
Nico acted like exactly what he is, an immature 19 or 20 year old kid with poor judgment. And then you, Mike, blame the university.
The system is broken. Compensating players so they can be comfortable in college is one thing. Making them the richest students on campus is ridiculous just like paying anybody $13,000,000 a year to COACH a football team. How much money does a person, or even a family, need to live a comfortable life?
Most people don’t make $8,000,000 in a lifetime! Don’t try justifying a college athlete asking for $4,000,000 a year to PLAY A GAME.
"Extrapolate trends into the long term. If current trends continue, universities will conclude that their mission does not include funding and managing professional football teams."
Beach actually said something worth reading. lol
I would like to see that. Let's see who can really coach
"Then they will start dropping these programs, and all those scholarships that helped the economic disadvantaged in our inner cities will be gone forever"
Yep, those poor disadvantaged with the hundreds of dollars of tattoos on their bodies.
Quote from Ryan Puglisi:
“I think it’s rare to find a school that you truly love, and when you really love something, you’re willing to do everything for it,” Puglisi said prior to G-Day. “You’re willing to wake up early the next day and go to work, do whatever it takes to get better. So I think it would have been tough for me to find another school that I love as much as Georgia, and I still feel that way.”
How can you not love this young man? This is the attitude that produces winners. Compare Ryan’s attitude to Nico’s. Night and day difference. I especially like “when you really love something, you’re willing to do everything for it.” Ryan loves the University of Georgia. Nico loves money.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.” 1 Timothy 6:10
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have….” Hebrews 13:5
"At the moment, there’s a cluster of mind-splitting issues that high-powered figures — judges, administrators, lawyers and politicians — can’t seem to sort out in a timely or effective manner."
I've pretty much had enough of this chaos. I've heard this phrase used before, "We the people" have the power to stop this destruction of the game. A powerful movement needs to happen across the college athletic landscape, stop buying merchandise, contributing to rich athletic departments, stop purchasing tickets and attending the events, see how fast things change then. A lot of common folks like me that I know as well as some boosters feel the same way, hopefully the winds of change will blow….
