UGA also adds UTSA guard Marcus "Smurf" Millender through the portal!

    Go Dawgs!!

Got excited for a second there, I thought we picked up Saint Mary's Coach Randy Bennet out of the portal…took a 2-27 team in a lesser conference and built a consistent Big Dance powerhouse. This kid may have two years of eligibility left but after a year with Mediocre Mike he'll probably transfer to Gonzaga

Article clearly says Jordan Ross as a transfer addition. Go make a thread about the coaches you want and wish for.

White took over an abysmal UGA Program 3 years ago. Did anyone...[in their right mind]...think he was gonna turn it around overnight?

They didn't become abysmal in a day...and, they're not gonna turn it around and become Champions in a day.

Bottom line is.…Mike White has UGA Basketball headed in the right direction, for the first time, since that cheater got caught creating fake basketball classes and had to pull out of the NCAA Tournament. What was was that?.…2008 or '09? Something like that, if memory serves.

I don't even care what that coach's name is....but....he had the Dawgs cookin' with gas while he was there. Lol. Some HC's do it the right way.…some don't. I like what I'm seeing from the UGA Athletic Department. All boats rise.

  • in this era of the portal it is actually much easier to turn around a program quickly. If he doesn’t make a run in the dance next year we need to find someone who can.

BINGO…funny thing about taking over a program and patience…the guy that took over Mediocre Mike's program WON A NATTY in the same amount of time because not only can he recruit and buy talent thru the portal, but he can actually in-game coach them…

I’ll give mike a little grace bc Crean left him nothing, but the time for excuses is over.

    Exactly, my point.

Even the guys you get out of the portal....have to play your brand of ball. The brand of ball, you've been teaching the other guys. The one's that stuck around, that is.

There's no guarantee, from one year to the next, that the guys you pull out of the portal will assimilate to UGA Basketball. That goes for all sports.

I don't care how good you are...if you can't play as a team, within the system...you're useless. Just ask Magic J. and Lou Alcinder. Lol

IMO....the #1 question on the TP resume', should be...."Is he coachable...or, does he have Prima Donna Syndrome?"

If he isn't gonna be coachable....don't let the "Stars" in front of his name fool you. Let him move on down the road. One bad apple can spoil the whole barrel...as they say.

as @Gramster has said…the guy who replaced Mike White managed to do just fine using the portal and recruiting to win big.

We essentially wasted our one year of Asa Newell because Mike can’t figure out the portal.

I’m not expecting a championship, but I am expecting a little more. There’s absolutely no reason why we can’t be more competitive in basketball. You’re bringing up Magic and Kareem like it’s the 80s. It’s not. The game has changed.

That coach was Jim Harrick. And he was fired in 2003. For doing something that is perfectly legal today. He was a good man and a great coach. Win a natty with ucla. But bottom line is MW is a good recruiter. Terrible game coach. That being said I do have hope that this roster will get us back to the tournament. But that’s about it. It’s sad that while that got White ran out of town In Gainesville it will get him a lifetime contract in Athens
