Kirby Smart ribs Paul Finebaum over Gunner Stockton questions: 'He got the message'

Kirby Smart jabs Paul Finebaum over Gunner Stockton questions: âHe â¦
Comments
Gotta laugh…
Love the look on Finebaum's face when Kirby told him he didnt miss the interview about Gunner that Finebaum did 😂
Let the doubters doubt… that’s exactly what Kirby wants. If his team is being doubted, that’s more motivation for him to use.
I think Gunner is the kind of guy that all the criticism does is feeds his fire for excellence. If the O Line will just do their job I’m Believing Gunner will make Dawgs fans proud. I Believe the WRs will be much improved and that certainly will be huge toward success.
And I have no explanation other than just pure faith but I Believe our RBs room is being underestimated by the Nay Sayers as well. One thing for sure the O Line is keenly aware that they are under the microscope but I Believe they will embrace the challenge and be much more successful.
Off Topic but my Cousin ( like a brother to me) a Huge Dawgs Fan went to Heaven to be with the Lord last week. I’m gonna miss talking Dawgs football with him. He was a big man with a big heart. Go Dawgs !!
Sorry to hear about your cousin. It sounds like you have some great memories to keep you company in his absence.
I’m very sorry to hear about your cousin. He was like a brother to you, I can likely very much relate to what you’re going through.
Like @wpony714 stated, sounds like you’ve got some great memories and that is priceless! I don’t know you personally, but I’ve followed your posts on this forum. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I don’t think Finebaum is thinking about the fact that Gunner’s first start in CFB was against the #2 team for the year and in a very high pressure situation. If you watch his HS tape and look at his stats, you will see Gunner can run and he has a good arm. It’s true he was in a lower division in HS, but he set a number of records for GA HS football—GA has produced some pretty good QBs through the years! The game is going to slow down for him a lot as the season progresses. The hundred year old prison in Knoxville and Alabama are going to be big challenges, but I expect him to do well. My confidence is increasing in our OL, and our position players look unusally strong to me this year. We need to stay healthy, and JMHO, but I think Gunner will have a great year for all of those reasons.
"navydawg"—not off topic at all. Very sorry to hear about your cousin's passing. From your post, seems like y'all enjoyed many talks about UGA football. I don't know you personally, but I always enjoy your posts on here. God bless you and your family.
So sorry to hear that you lost your cousin NavyDawg. My deepest condolences and prayers for the family.
If Gunner needs Pinebaum to doubt him in order to play better, I don't know. I hope that's not the case. I'm pretty sure Kirby never thought he would be starting a season with one QB who has thrown any passes in a game, and less than 100 attempts at that. But that's where we are. I blame Bobo's offense on that.Seemed like we were behind at half-time every game or with a slim lead. CB had to play the whole game .
Now GS has to get some ALabama in the 3rd game of the year and he will have all of 3 starts and probably around 100 pass attempts as a starter. bythen. If he and UGA wins that one then we might be on to something. It may never be easier for UGA though as the Tide are pretty much in the same QB position of inexperience that we are in.
Navydawg, sorry for your loss. "To die is gain." You will see him again,
yep, would have to go back and look - but I believe it was in total yards (rushing & passing). I believe it was Deshaun Watson that had them prior. I certainly do not doubt his talent, he just needs more experience. FWIW, Herschel played in a lower division too.
Either Deshaun or Trevor Lawrence..can't remember which it was.
Gunner also holds the state high school record for total TD's..177 total i believe in his high school career.
Herschel also played 45 years ago.
"Everything is relative”.
A lower HS division is not indicative of talent, just school size. IE, plenty of talent down in south GA in some of the smaller divisions and most any state - especially the south.
Herschel is not the only one. Roquan Smith would be one, so would Leonard Floyd.…and just off the top of my head - so would Walter Payton, Marcus Dupree, Jerry Rice and Darrell Green.
I know of 8 or 9 that came off my HS team that I grew up & played with that got division 1 scholarships. Mary Persons has had some great athletes in seasons past, so has Dublin, Americus and a many more.
We know you’re not a Gunner fan - it shows.
But there are a lot of us that are, including the coaches & team. Maybe if you quit removing the down votes you are getting from folks, you’ll better understand - unless your psyche just can’t handle it.
You need to give it a rest and quit looking for arguments. Maybe just sit back and moderate a while.
