We've got plenty of TE talent already that's not being used as it should be. Don't blame the kid for looking elsewhere.

    Bummer

Oh well, on to the next man on the list.

I think, the NFL would beg to differ. Lol...how many tight ends has Kirby sent forth, to the League...just, since he's been UGA's HC. Richt sent a few, himself.

I wouldn't shortchange UGA's preparation and employment of the TE position. Especially, after sending 4 TE's on to relatively successful careers in the professional ranks, in just the last few years...Fitzpatrick, Washington, Seither, Bowers....and a WR turned TE [Jackson]. I'm sure I missed a couple....but, you get the point. Lol

I to...HAVE been frustrated with Delps development. He hasn't seemed to progress one iota...in 2 years. IMO...that's on him. Injuries...known and unknown...may have held him back a little bit. As with Lawson.Lucky.

Let's just wait and see if they can start a season 100% healthy...with a QB packin' cajones'. See what happens then.

This is understandable. He’s from CA. Playing close to home makes sense. Of course, as we Dawg fans are painfully aware of, a “commitment” these days is basically meaningless. Mark could still end up in Athens.

He' got some serious acne which is one of the side effects of certain anabolic steroids. He needs to checked to see if he's juicing.

Seither had a pretty good follow on career with Ga Tech as a starter, after NOT cracked the starting rotation at UGA. I assumed he signed with a team as an UFA if nothing else. Hate to hear that he didn't make it. I thought he was talented enough, in the right areas...but, go figure.

While, I haven't really followed it that closely. I was just trying to point out, that UGA doesn't waste good TE talent...and never have. I remember a lot of great UGA tight ends over the years....and, Kirby & Hartley are stackin' em up, like nobody I've ever seen, in Athens. No complains, here.

IMO...The two biggest things that have had a negative impact on the TE position [etal], over the last few years...are "injuries" and coaching changes. Not, poor coaching. That's just a lazy journalistic assessment.

Bad luck and bad timing...2 of the hardest things to overcome, in any sport...much less SEC CFB.. UGA did it once, in 2021....they didn't do it in 2020.

You can bet, Kirby comes packin' 3 or 4 NFL worthy TE's, come September. And, the best one, could be somebody not even on the radar, yet. Lol

  • Bowman probably believes (rightly) that it will not matter where he goes and if you throw in the price then the “development” piece isn’t as imperative as it might’ve been costs being equal.

That may be very true plus being a "home boy"…..at any rate he can forget the "Baby Brock" moniker, as BB demonstrated a singular focus on being developed by the best TE coach in D-1 and facing the toughest competition weekly.

  • Quite a legacy to live up to. Now he can go in with zero expectations and just ball out. No harm, no foul.

He chose close to home and no telling how much $$. Oh well can’t get Em all. And never know might see him later in the TP. Is what it is. I’m looking forward to watching Delp and Luckie and others This year !!

Being "ranked" by a 3rd party...as the "#1 TE in the Country"....looks great. ON PAPER. That doesn't always pan out to be a "Brock Bowers" situation....at any position.

Lol.…some of these "talent scouts & projectionists" are kinda funny, if you think about it. It's like a Deer Hunter wanting to see a big buck so bad...they shoot a squirrel instead...because...in their minds eye, it WAS a deer....white flag tail and all. I've seen it happen.

The mind can play tricks. The harder you look, for something you yearn to find...the more likely, it will result in a false impression.

He might be as good as they say....or, his ceiling may be what they think it is. Who knows?. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion, that he didn't want to go to UGA. It could've been the other way around. Which we'll never know, in all likelihood...so, what difference does it make.

Lol....remember Zack Evans and how that whole thing, went down, in 2019-2020? Everybody was saying Evans backed out on UGA.…but, it was the other way around. And...for good reason...imo.

Nobody thought Bowers was gonna take over CFB for 3 yrs...but, he did. Nobody saw Stetson Bennett coming...or Trayvon Walker and Jordan Davis.

But....all those guys i mentioned showed up, because they were allowed to grow straight & tall, in an environment tailored to Athletes aspiring to "Be all they can be".

IMO...The tight end position @UGA is set for the foreseeable future. They don't really NEED another Bowers wannabe, that wallows just above mediocrity. There's only so-many plays to spread around....and only a 3rd of which are pass-plays.

Now.…if they find a TE, like Bowers, that doesn't measure himself against others and aspires to be a great "Football Player and Teammate", as well as, the best tight end in the game?....that's another story. I don't care how many stars are in front of his name.…or how many paper clippings bare his likeness.

You want all of those guys you can get. You can build Something, with that mindset. Everybody thrives!!!

    Go Dawgs!!!

    @Kasey

True....and, USC's no slouch. He landed in a good spot....imo. Despite having to play for a lame duck coach.

In fact....USC is the only other place, I would've considered, besides UGA and GaTech. What's "not to like"?

'Course...nowadays Cali aint such a great place to work. It's a killer place to be lazy, though. Lmao

Lol....I have a feeling...this will be Lincoln Riley's last season at USC. He's a big12 coach, in a BIG10 costume. Meaning we may see another round of this....come December.

We always seem to have a Randy McMichael, Leonard Pope, Darnell Washington TE that seems under-utilized in the red zone to me. Anyone else feel the same?
