Without that 350 lb middle tackle, the dogs will be giving up yards and points. CM is good, but he needs a big guy to eat up two tackles. Jordan Hall is 320 - but more in line with a regular tackle. The dawgs have a couple options - Nasier Johnson and Ogoboko. Can they get ready?
Can't help the club from the tub. Seems that Miller, Hall and JJA have all been hurt more than they have been healthy while at UGA. UGA having a full complement of healthy DL will be a big part of how successful the defense will be in '25.
JJA has been here one season. Little too early to lump him in with those other 2.
JJA hasn't been hurt more than he has been healthy at UGA. He was hurt his entire 1st season. Last year when people where predicting that JJA would be a force in yr 1, I reminded people that he was a 17 year old trying to play DL in the SEC. The probability of him being more than an occasional contributor was very low. So now, as an 18 yo, one big question is "Is JJA going to be one of those players that gets hurt every year and fails to reach his anticipated potential"? Gotta wonder if being thrown in there , at 17, overwhelmed him physically leading to his injuries?
JJA was a guy that was rated 5* in HS because of his size, athletic ability and potential not necessarily for his level of football skill or HS production. This season the rubber meets the road. Still only 18, JJA has to step up due to lack of experience and non-freshmen numbers at DE. He better have lived in the weight room for the last year. He probably still needs another year before he strikes any fear in opposition OT's.
while I agree with most of what you said, I think Gabe Harris needs to be healthy too. If these four are healthy and contribute the defense shouldn’t miss a beat.
Still unproven Gabe Harris may be a little undersized to play DE at UGA. "shouldn't miss a beat" from last year's 35th ranked D that was ranked 23rd in points given up?
Gabe Harris has been injured both seasons he’s been here. That’s what I was getting at.
If the offense doesn’t give the opposing team the ball as much as in 24 the defense should improve. Nate Frazier has to hold on to the ball and I don’t think Gunner will throw as many INTs as Carson did last year.
