Georgia legend Brock Browers makes more NFL history with unprecedented recognition

ATHENS â Brock Bowers has already cemented his place as the greatest Georgia player of the Kirby Smart Era, and heâs already working toward a gold NFL Hall of Fame jacket.
Comments
retire #19. That’s a fact.
I still wish he went anywhere other than Oakland (they are known for Oakland, not LV), but it is what it is, DGD!
Hope Brock keeps his head on staight. Saw a pic of he and his wife partying with Travis Kelce and Taylor. I mean, it's living the dream, but…..hope he was drinking Mountain Dews!
Not just a deep QB class. It was a deep WR and OT class also. 10 WRs in the first 37 picks. 8 OTs in the first 29 picks. A lot of UGA fans were upset at Bowers and McConkey dropping, but either a #1 or #2 WR is more valuable than a TE. Instead of wondering why Bowers went behind Marvin Harrison, Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze, I am just happy that he went ahead of Brian Thomas: 6'4", 210 lbs who ran a 4.33 at the combine and nearly 1200 yards for 17 TDs his last year in college.
As for McConkey, he just never put up 1st round pick WR numbers. (Blame the scheme in 2021 and 2022, injuries in 2023.) It is difficult to justify taking a 6 foot 185 lb. 4.39 40 guy over bigger guys with better stats. (Yes, Keon Coleman had worse stats than McConkey. Keon Coleman is also 6'3" 215 lbs)
Kelce and Kittle who?
Bowers will make people forget about those two, and kelce recognized that last season when he sought out Bowers after their game to swap jerseys.
I’ve been fortunate to see some of the greatest Georgia football players since 1982: Herschel, Pollack, Gurley, Chubb, Stetson, and Bowers, just to name a few.
Go Dawgs!
@reddawg1Mountain Dews are terrible for athlete conditioning. You might want to shift that to Gatorade
So explain to me again why Nike can provide the Raiders with the shiny pants, but can’t provide them to UGA? We don’t have “silver britches” anymore. We just wear our practice pants in games.
"Brock Bowers has already cemented his place as the greatest Georgia player of the Kirby Smart Era..."____MG
Lol.…not so fast, Mike. I think, maybe you mean "greatest Tight End, in UGA history.".....or "greatest Offensive Player of the Kirby Smart Era". Something along those lines, would be a little more factual.
IMO.…Jalen Carter or Jordan Davis, could be the "greatest Defensive Players of the Kirby Smart Era". Hard to say, "they're the best DL's in UGA history", though....cause, there have been many.
"We just wear our practice pants in games."_____Dawggie
Lolol....that's funny.
I miss those "Silver Britches", myself. I like for em, to do the retro thing, once in a while....Silver Britches, Black Jersey's and whatnot.
But, for me...it don't git no better than a red jersey with an oval "G" on the helmet. The Dawgs have a lot of big wins, in that particular uniform.
Hoping BB keeps his head on straight gets down votes_what world are we living in?
Don't forget another defensive player who was selected with the1st overall pick in the draft, Travon Walker..GoDAWGS!
Brock isn't married, yet. She's just a girlfriend at the moment. Article stated that both are from Napa Valley, went to different high schools, but Brock accompanied her to her Senior prom. They continued to date while he was at UGA and she went to that orange wearing school in the next state north of Georgia lol so they do have a few years together.
Jake Scott, Bill Stanfill, Randal Godfrey, Goldberg, Rambo, Seymour, Davis, Champ & Boss Bailey, Pollack....Yada, Yada.
Long list of D-Dawgs indeed....makes it virtually impossible to justify picking just 1 guy as "The Best"...or, "The Most Valuable".
The UGA Offense is another animal...imo. If we're just talkin' The Kirby Era....ya gotta include Chubb and Michel, Bennett, Pickens, Mecole Hardeman [CMR & CKS], and James Cook....AND....a bevy of offensive linemen.
Imo...There are a very few group of players, that stand alone in Dawg Lore. Bowers joins the likes of Frank Sinkwich, Charlie Trippi, Jake Scott & Bill Stanfil, Herschel Walker, Lindsey Scott, Eric "Air" Zaier, Garrison Hearst, Champ Bailey, Matt Stafford, Stetson Bennett and Ladd McConkey, on that particular Ring of Honor.
I may have missed a couple of guys, here and there. But, I wouldn't say "Bowers is the greatest of the Smart Era.". Not yet, anyway.
Hell...if Bowers is the greatest of the Smart Era....then, imo...he's the greatest of all time. I'm just not ready to utter that hyperbolic statement, just yet. Lol....but, the fat lady is warming up.
Bowers is absolutely the greatest of the Smart era so far. His only competition is Jalen Carter.
👍....that's how I lean, too. Jalen is the most dominant defensive lineman, I've seen in a long long time. He is up there with the all-time National Greats...imo.
So...I vote Brock Bowers on Offense...and...Jalen Carter on defense.
That being said....Bowers has effected the outcome of more plays than Carter, IMO. Therefore....MG is technically correct. Bowers is Kirby's GOAT.
He may also be, UGA's GOAT as well. But, I would have to completely disable my Anti-Hype Filter (AHF), in order to bring myself to actually, utter those words. It'd be hard to dispute, though. Lol
for me he’s the best UGA player of the 21st century. Harder to compare him to those from different eras (pre-integration, post-integration) but when you look at impact on the game Brock stands pretty high.
