Another one whose word meant nothing
Texas $$$$ at work, nothing more. I'd rather have a 0-4 star young man that WANTS to be a DAWG, instead of a money chasing KID who has proved NOTHING at the college level. As they say in show biz..break a leg..see ya! Maybe its a blessing in disguise, and Sone commits to UGA now. From the tapes I've watched, Sone looks as athletic and just as good as Johnson to me, maybe even a tad faster on his first step off the ball than Johnson.
The only thing I hope is the coaches remember these players that they spend endless time recruiting to be spurred and if they hit the portal in the future not to consider them. We need players that want to be here for the right reason and not chase the highest bidder.
He probably didn’t like Kirby’s comment at media day when he said if you don’t want to work and be coached, don’t come to Georgia. Of course money is probably the biggest factor.
I agree, dont expect me to chase after you if you enter the portal. You had your chance to be a DAWG, but you chose another school. So, i will not be wasting another penny, or minute on you, I'll spend my time finding another who wants to be here, and would love to be coached, and developed at the highest level by a top notch coaching staff. Good riddance to an unproven, money hungry teenager..
Kirby probably knew it was coming and mentioned it specifically.
I love the overuse of the word "Committed" in these articles and the joke of a poster with them in their employer's uniform.. I hope that, whenever these soon-to-be millionaire children who have done nothing to date other than what a great many on this forum did in high school actually get to their chosen (and re-chosen) destinations, that they learn in their English classes the actual definition of the word.
I am so, so sick of NIL.
”Committed” for three weeks! REALLY? Character is important. This young man seems to lack that. As my grandfather told me more than once, “A man’s word is the best indication of his character.” The way he usually put it was, “ A man is no better than his word.” Anyone who can basically lie about who he will be playing for needs to be some place other than Athens IMO.
Yeah, I’m out of touch with reality. Yeah, I’m old school. Yeah, the young guys think it’s okay to not keep your word. Yeah, that helps one understand how far our culture has regressed. Yeah, we’re in trouble. Lying is acceptable. Breaking one’s word is acceptable. It’s all okay is what I hear folks saying. Well, it’s not okay.
So UTx has picked our pocket twice today today, this stings. $$ has talked and our relationships has walked.
When you can transfer every year without penalty, who cares….recruit the best players you can who actually want to be part of a winning program, as for these kids chasing the buck…see ya, next man up.
It is kind of strange that when he "committed, he said he knew UGA was the place for him after his visit. Now 2 1/2 weeks later, he abruptly changes his mind.. he was never committed to start with. Im old school also, if i cant trust you to keep your word, i definitely WONT trust you on anything else, and thats a guarantee. Plus, you lost any respect i had for you by breaking your word..and it won't be my loss when you go.
Hard to beat that oil money. We'll still dominate though. Go Dawgs!!
I love the old folks on here talking about being committed at age 18. They are kids still, with life changing amounts of money being thrown at them, and you want them to stay committed? Get real. Nobody at 18 is committed to anyone or anything with the money and women being thrown at these guys. 3 weeks is 2 weeks and 6 days longer than most would be committed in their situation.
That being said, I hate the way college football is right now and a lot would be fixed if the portal wasn't limitless.
Go Dawgs!!!
Yeah, it's all about relationships… with money. I'm proud of Kirby and UGA for putting character and principles first. Go Dawgs!
Man what a consensus among Dawg fans and I agree with it all! Money lust has increasingly replaced integrity with some of these 'stars'. We only want those guys who want to train hard and develop teamwork.
My guess is magonahe (yes,I spelled it wrong..not worth looking up) is probably helping with the recruiting...money, money, money, money.
Go Dawgs!
