I actually agree, up to a point. I just don't think that we're a "big bully on the block" in regards to NIL. I'm sure we offer more than some schools, but look at our present class. I don't think we're offering these commitments any more, if any more or even less sometimes, than ALA, Tenn, UF, LSU, TexasA&M, etc. I think if get a commitment, or a flip, the player compares the offers, and then looks at the overall advantages (pluses) that UGA has to offer. Development, culture, philosophy, track record, fan base, game day atmosphere, support after football, etc. and most importantly Kirby Smart!!

i was mentioning how they hadn’t won many recruiting battles for guys they were in on this cycle. Obviously that changed this week. Maybe it was desperation on their part after a few misses. Maybe they weren’t really “missing” those guys and were waiting for the market to set and then overpay. Not sure what happened but was likely one of those two scenarios.

From what I’ve read they made Atkinson an offer he couldn’t refuse and he took it. I’m sure the path to early playing time in Austin also helped influence the decision. JJ seems as though he committed to UGA so schools like Miami, Texas, and Florida could improve on our offer. Seems he liked what Texas had to say the most. I wouldn’t be surprised if he flips again before the cycle is over.

How long are you going to keep deleting my responses to you? That's 2 now. I thought you were knowledgeable and not afraid of debate? After those 2 deletions I see the real Kasey.

one was edited to remove the personal attack. The second was deleted because it contained the second personal attack. I’m trying to be better and engage with you on a good faith basis and have an actual discussion. I’m not sure anyone else wants to see us flinging barbs at each other but I suppose if you prefer that means of communication, let me know.

then don't insult someone and expect them not to say anything and hide behind your title. I did not personally attack you. I just returned your insult. I have never insulted anyone here first. Including you. I just gave you/them a taste of their own medicine. If you want an actual discussion don't take cheap shots at the people that make your job possible.

    "Relationships over Transactions."

Imo.…that says it all. If I'm Kirby....and I valued relationships, character and connection as much as he seems to....I'd place the 5-star kid at a decision point unrelated to money on the table.

Intentionally, slightly underbid the competition...but, stay within a reasonable range. If he picks UGA over the money....he's your guy. If he picks the competition, over a few grand....he's probably as good as he'll ever be, cause he'll be uncoachable.

The way i see it....In recruiting....sometimes, when you lose....you actually win. And, sometimes when you win, you actually lose. Lol...got that philosophy from Rosie Perez, in "White Men Can't Jump".

Go get em Dawgs. Win each day!

1.5 million..for a kid who has proved absolutely NOTHING at the college level.

I think what you say is correct. But we need to remember we are talking about young people who have never seen (or even imagined) this kind of money. And, in some (many?) cases, families that have not only never seen this kind of money but families in situations where the differences in offers is significant to the families well being for quite a while after the deal is inked.

The "rules" are allegedly changing. This is supposed to be the last season of the wild west in CFB. Hopefully, for the sake of CFB, some rules are put in place. In the mean time there will be some programs that will spend wildly on HS players. Unfortunately, before this NIL change, these were the types of players that were choosing to attend AL and later UGA to play CFB. So NIL (teams willingness to outspend UGA) has hurt UGA.

Until the changes in the system take place, the onus will be on the UGA coaches to develop lower ranked players into highly productive players we've seen at UGA in the early '20's.

especially since Kirby and Schu have three Butkus award winners and two top 15 picks at ILB (and Quay as a first rounder). Trust the process. Conversely, could look at guys like Nakobe and Smael and think that level of physicality is too much for him. Either way, we’ve earned the discount.

Tyler is betting on himself here. Nothing wrong with that, wish him the best and worst of luck when he plays Georgia.

All of these kids and their families should stop taking visits to schools and committing afterwards.Just put their names on one of those silent auction sheets. Highest bidder wins!

Imo....most of these kids have had dollar signs [$$$] in their eyes, since the summer of 2020. Today's group would've been 11 or 12 years of age. They've had plenty of time to get used to the idea of being solvent at an early age....and, prepare for it.

Who can blame em. How "smart" can a kid be...that doesn't put a high value, on money and security for his family.

But...imo....that should NOT be the sole motivation for "being the best". An athlete that needs money to drive his engine, has no business on Kirby's Dawgs.

As far as, what makes these kids tick..."money & security" or "burning desire for greatness"...I couldn't tell you from here, which is which...but, one thing has been proven over and over.

Kirby Smart has his finger on that pulse. Until now...he's had a helluva lot more hits than misses [imo]. He's the "CFB Whisperer" to the ones that want to be coached up.

Some kids just want to coast on their talent alone, while collecting a check they've been working toward since they were adolescent. God Bless....nothing wrong with that. For them.

But, not for the Dawgs. That attitude doesn't measure up to the Bulldog AKC Standard. Kirby has to be able to push em, without having them fold their tent and moving to a less demanding program. Waste of time and resources. It's best to be sure..or, as close to sure as you can get, before "Signing Day".

Exactly.…"Trust the PROVEN process". Lol....UGA has a way of taking a 3or4-star athlete...running him through the 3 year process...and, spitting out 5-star draft picks and future NFL stars at the end of the assembly line.

The key is...to recruit the best "raw material with character" athletes that you can find...regardless of ranking. "Ballplayers" that aren't more interested in their financial portfolio than their physical and mental development.

If you ask me....Agents and Lawyers are going to eventually destroy CFB….and, the NFL. Just like they drain the blood out of everything else they touch.
