Social sounds off on Georgia football offense against Austin Peay, takes note of Florida flop

Dang, lot of excuses. You can say what you want a knot wanting to show what you have but when you have 6 tries and can’t score against a team like AP on the goal line!!! There is no excuse. Too many passes, just bill rush it in.
I love the part where it states to listen to Coach Jim Donnan. Wasn’t he fired for not beating Tech?
he also set up Mark Richt for success and knows football.
If adversity really does help teams improve, Georgia should benefit from Saturday’s underwhelming win over Austin Peay, which was plagued by weather and an inconsistent offense. Check out my latest post at the Junkyard Blawg’s new home.

Agree, agree, agree with Aaron Murray…..our offense is just OK…not bad but not great….O-Line failed to execute consistently despite calling the right play….Gunner missed reads, too slow on release which resulted in missed ops results in depending on his legs which worked most of the time but would be better as a planned well executed run…To beat The Vols in Neyland, our defense will have to play "shut down the run and pressure the QB" and Gunner & Company will need to sharpen the execution….that will result in a 20 plus win in Neyland.
Guys, Ohio State had a completely banged up and disjointed O-line the first half of last season, and then figured it out and won a National Championship with the O-line playing much better the 2nd half of the season.
There are no excuses for lack of an above average O-line when the Dawgs have the 2nd most talented roster in the nation.
Period.
Austin Peay 's O-line protected their QB very well against our 4 and 5 star defense until the last drive or so when everyone knew they'd pass it. Our 4star blue chip linemen allowed Gunner to be harrassed most of the day. Go watch ArchManning sit in the pocket Saturday clean as a whistle and throw 4 TD's in a 5 minute span.
I lobbied we go out and get a couple of O-linemen in the transfer protal but was told that our back ups are better than anyone available. NOw we're making excuses for them against Austin -PEay?
Kirby was pounding on his chest trying to get them to have some heart! DIdn't work.
Bravo !! Bravo !! Well said !! If Kirby wants some real protein why doesn’t he chew on Searls azz ?? Yes and Yes Gunner Has made mistakes but he hasn’t turned the ball over and he’s essentially done his job in the basics. This O Line has been atrocious in Both pass pro and run blocking. If they would do a Much better job I am Very confident that Gunner would in turn do a better job !! Your comments are spot on !!
Yep. Agree. From 6” out and couldn’t bull rush it in. This O Line is By Far more of the problem than Gunner is. Kirby telling him “ Now Trust your O Line Son, just because some monster DT or DE tears your head off is OK you can always go to Sears & Roebuck and get a new head but we need to Win”. And to his buddy Searls “ Hey Bro. if Yall can I’d appreciate a little better play, Hey I didn’t hurt your feelings did I ?? Hey there’s a pay raise in it for you !!”.
YES and again YES Gunner has made mistakes but the O Line has been MUCH worse and FAR more costly. But KS throws Gunner under the bus with a lateral with the I believe insincere veneer praise but with a harsh chastising attached. I could be wrong but I haven’t read where he’s publicly criticized the O Line. Has he ?? If he has I haven’t seen it.
Seems like he doesn’t want to publicly offend Searls, much easier to lay it on Gunner not “Trusting” this sponge of an O Line !! Bottom line for Gunner ( or any other QB) to have Significant and Consistent Success the O Line Must protect him and give him Time. By the way it’d be nice to see them do Much better in run blocking as well.
