I usually agree with Aaron...not always, but usually. Smart guy.
I, personally never had a problem with "constructive criticism". But, I have a problem with critics being critical...just to be critical.
Stockton has barely scratched the surface of his true ability. I would think Aaron knows that...but, maybe he doesn't want to commit to it, yet. Which is understandable for a guy in his position.
Gunner will prove to be the real deal. But, there's no hurry in bringing him along.
I imagine Smart wants to see him have to come from behind...or, fight for it in the 4th qtr.....at some point during the season. Before they get into the SECG or CFP.
Kirby's one of the best at generating on-field adversity with selective playcalling and personnel packages. I don't look forward to that game...Lol. But, when it happens...and, it could be Saturday...I believe Stockton will prevail. Just like Bennett did.
Go Dawgs...Gunner em down. Lol
Hard to disagree with Aaron. Gunner has very little upside, is slow on his reads when he actually looks downfield, panics with any pressure even in a clean pocket, has not shown to be a good decision maker, not processing the field at all, tucks and runs when he should be patient, almost always checks down to the 20 yard or less safety valves while WRs are streaking long and many times wide open. What I do not understand is the unbelievable support he is getting when we have seen who he really is. He struggled against ND, he has struggled against lesser competion, he could not beat out Vandergriff who has given up football being unable to compete at the SEC level, yet many make statements such as "Gunner is the real deal", "we can bring him along slowly"….yeh, I guess, if we want to throw away this season. If we are going to bring Gunner along slowly, why not give the ball to Pugs so we have a talented QB ready for next year. Gunner is not it.
let me guess you were probably saying the same thing in these messages about Stetson to huh ?
No he didn't, but love all the doubt - thinks it will put a fire under the team's azz.
do you have opinions about anything else or just Gunner?
Comparing Gunner to Stetson is ridiculous. Stetson is and was 100 times the QB than Gunner ever will be. I supported Stetson from the beginning and was just as frustrated with the coaching staff for slow playing him and doubting him, with his game results what they were. We were lucky he came back for a 2nd NC season. Gunner is not Stetson. Similarly, I am frustrated with the ridiculous approach the coaching staff is taking with Gunner by playing him after we have seen how bad he is as an SEC QB. We will lose to UT because of Gunner. Why are we starting a QB with so little upside? We have seen his ceiling and it is very low.
