Carson Beck leads ‘gritty’ win over Miami after discussing Georgia on College GameDay

I was one of CB's biggest detractors during his last season with the Dawgs... not because of his skills, but because of his leadership difficulties and my belief that his "style" was a poor fit for the broader UGA team and community. I stick by those perspectives.

Since he joined The U (which is right up there with THE Ohio State University, IMHO, when it comes to institutional arrogance), I believe we've seen a different, better Carson. He seems more mature, speaks fondly (and, I believe, truthfully) about his time at UGA, seems to have rationalized his off-field distractions (esp. the disastrous "influencer" of a girlfriend), seems to "click" better with his team and coaches, and appears to be playing more like his 2023 season with the Bulldogs. We'll see if that continues over time, but it's clearly an improvement over last year.

I'm a big believer in redemption... everyone deserves a second chance, at least those who are not harming others and attempt to humble themselves, whether publicly, privately, or both. Carson at times did a lot of good for our program, despite his later struggles, and he certainly took some actual physical harm in trying to help UGA win. I don't wish him ill.

I've also been skeptical of the Transfer Portal and NIL and their impact on the spirit of college football. However, I think in this case we have an example of a real win-win from TP+NIL: a nice, talented, but troubled young man gets a chance to redeem himself and UGA gets a fantastic, down-to-earth star (Gunner) who IS a great fit for the Dawgs. Plus we avoided another unproductive QB controversy in Athens. How good is that?

I'll always have trouble rooting for Miami, but I will wish CB the very best... not just in football, but in life. Equally, importantly, I now get to focus all my attention on the guy we really needed at Georgia: Gunner Stockton.

Looking forward to all of us pulling together next Saturday!

This site spends a great amount of time talking and writing about former players. Its just tiresome.

But its mainly MG! His mind is always on things to keep past guys on our minds instead of focusing on our

    current team. STOP IT PLEASE!

BOOM! Last week it was all MG's favorite team…UFK

This week his bromance with Carson and UM

You got that right!!! Man, those guys are the best white collar criminals on the face of the earth. They invented a scam, nobody goes to jail for. There needs to be an Agent Hall of Fame to mark em for life. Lol

One Agent....his name escapes me...but, one agent is responsible for most of this mess. Lol...lawyers!...can't live with em...can't scam without em.

<added note>..…referenced Agent is Jimmy Sextan or something like that. He has all their contracts. Wonder if he has some kind of kick back scheme going with those College Presidents and AD'S.

Probably ought to be looked into...just sayin'....if it's possible to corrupt something...you can bet, somebody has already thought of 10 ways to do it.

And, right now.…there are, admittedly...NO GUARDRAILS to prevent that.

Dude!!! It's a bye week. What else are we gonna talk about?....the Bumblebees and Birds in Atlanta? Lol...I'll Pass'adena..

GO...DAWGS! Skit'em Carson! Tear em a new booty hole, Dawg-D!! Out think em, Kirby!! Outkick em, Thorson!! Do whatever it takes to WIN....by 1 point or 100. A win is a win is a win.

Just me or did Miami get away with several targeting hits in 1st half that weren’t called? I like the physical hits but feel like lesser ones get called for targeting, especially against UGA.

Yep....but, imo....that is one "Rule" they need to flush down the toilet it crawled out of.

It's confusing, arbitrary and impossible to apply equally across the board. It also allows for referees to manipulate a teams momentum...cause it can be called during ANY "Play Review". It's a "Cheater's Rule".

I've seen players getting hurt...Trying to avoid high contact. It doesn't prevent a dang thing....and, they know it. It's a Rule for "mothers & girlfriends" as we used call the escape hatch in our submarine.

Now that they've spent all these years trying to justify it....they can't undo it, without looking like they don't care. Lol...it's Political, now.

MG, I appreciate your thoughts and articles. I, in fact, tend to be one of the fans who defend you when you’ve written something that has bothered the fold. The response you’ve offered up here, though, comes up short. We ALL know that the transitive property does not apply in football. That’s the fallacy nearly every newbie to the sport tends to spout. I expect better from a seasoned expert, such as yourself.

I must be watching a different Carson Beck. Outside of completion %, which is elevated due to the majority of passes being within 5 yds of the line, I see the same Beck with worse stats.

I tend to agree....and, disagree. If the AP isn't using the "transitive property" to resolve their top 25....what property, are they using?

    Lmao...I know...I know...The Dartboard Property! Except for the top 8. I don't know what they're using there.

The Coaches Poll got it almost right...except for Penn St & Miami. They're not that good, yet.…and haven't earned that kind of respect or "benefit of the doubt".

Miami's HC is still the same guy that blew a late 4th qtr lead to GT for Tech's most improbable WIN ever!! I'm not even gonna mention Beck's inconsistencies under the kind of pressure a "Big Game" brings [imo].

And, we've seen how Penn State's NOT handled the pressure under Franklin. Why do "The Pollsters" think, they all of a sudden, have what it takes?...without proving it on the field?. Just sayin'.…corrupt or incompetent. Lol...or both.

They should just poll the fans. The fans tend to get it pretty close to correct every year. Despite maybe being Homers. Lol....once they get past "their team", that is. They probably watch a helluva lot more football than the vast majority of AP Voters.

    Speaking of former Dawgs....

Did anybody happen to see the old UGA Teamwork come out BIG in the Philly vs LA Game today?

With Davis and Carter lined up side-by-side on what would've been a winning FG. Davis whispered something to Carter. Carter, after blocking LA's previous FG attempt...leaned over and, whispered something back.

I told my Brother..."Watch, Davis is gonna knock that guard on his butt...and, block this FG. And, Carter's gonna help him.". Lol...unbelievably, he not only blocked it...but, then...picked it up and ran untouched for a walkoff TD. Fastest i've EVER seen Davis run.

I haven't seen anything like that, since Jadavion Clowny played for South Carolina. A slimmer faster Davis, is just as dangerous as Carter, now. Philly hit the Jackpot....and stole it right out from under the Atlanta Falcons' nose.

It was unreal...till the Jets did almost the same thing 15 minutes later in the mop-up to that game, with a minute and a half remaining.

DeAndre Swift is dead-leggin the heck out of the Cowboys, right now. If anybody's interested. Looks like his "old self".

this obsession with Beck from Griffith, is starting to infringe on his man crush with Justin Fields. Let it go bro, he isn’t in the red and black any longer and we do not care. Know your audience! Or do I need to go back to calling you Peter Griffin?
