PS: Right after I posted, this came out. I believe the point about "the envy of 95% (at least) of FBS programs" is right. It still points to the TP+NIL issue, but everyone is facing that except the very deepest pockets... coaching has to be the difference (where UGA DOES pay the most), otherwise only $s for players matters and CKS is fighting a different battle... maybe?

That's fair. I was going largely from memory. Man, being in that stadium, every little thing that went right felt huge. I'm sure that affected the way I held on to things. Henri Bergson was right about the way we perceive time versus what the clock dictates to us…

I've been quietly agreeing with you re: the experience over talent issue. My hope is that we can hold on to our talent until it has some legitimate experience and end up with a two-headed snake. There's a popular saying across middle and high school sports teams (I've worked for several different schools, and it has popped up in some fashion at each school I've worked for on one or more teams): Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Part of that "working hard" is just having more time to have done so, which ultimately develops the talent. It's intended to be a motivator, but it's also sort of just a truism…

IMO....I think, anybody giving the Dawgs grief right now, has their head up their butts. Lol

Game 4...after Tennesse...and the Dawgs have a little first half let-down.

So...what? In the 2nd half... They came back strong in several areas that failed em in the first half....and darn near won the thing. Even though, they were mostly having a bad day. And, Bama was playing way above their head. Good job on them! And, good job on UGA, stickin with em toe-to-toe through the rough patch.

Is it any surprise...to anybody.that it was gonna take the Dawgs 5 games to gel. I said, that very thing a few months ago. They're young and inexperienced....but, talented and resilient. They've been improving every game....both collectively, and individually.

The best news, at this point in the season...that anyone could hope for....is, UGA can flat out run the football. They can also stop the run and effect the pass. Their young inexperienced secondary, is growing up fast....and so is the offensive line.

I saw some great blocking...and holes big enough to drive a truck through. Mad props to Delp, on his blocking. He and the other 5 guys are working some magic on those traps and counters. And…up the gut.

The BIGGEST weak spot, on the whole team....imo....is Pass Protect. And, THAT'S fixable. The secondary issue, was on the defensive side. They were getting there...but, not finishing. Not hitting and locking up. Too many missed tackles.

In fact...everything I saw, that wasn't "perfect" (Lol)...is fixable. That should be good news to fans. I know it is to Kirby. Lol...if you can run and stop the run....you are Championship caliber...full stop.

That's why you see Stoops & Kiffin sweating more than Kirby. They're already working on the excuses. Lol. I've seen em play...and i've seen the Dawgs play. I don't know what the hell, everybody is worried about.

Seems like some fans, just look for a reason to worry...and get buck fever, Lol. They start seeing problems where there are none. Lol

Like I said....give Kirby's version of Natty Stew, time for all the flavors to meld....

Cause, I got news for ya....Nobody's playing on UGA'S level...[or any level for that matter]...."Consistently". They all look "great", one week...and pedestrian the next week.

The way I see it....The Dawgs matched the best, that Bama could throw at em with their "B & C" Game...and, looked powerful in holding back the Tide in the 2nd half. The ball and refs...just didn't go their way, on THAT night....inexperience aside.

They will get noticeably better each week from here on out. That's why I think Kirby smiles. Lol

    I disagree. I don't think it's a matter of talent...but, experience.

Dawgs aren't hangin' around the yard anymore, like they once did. They're wandering off to Cat Country & Lizard Land...or the dog pound. Lol...and, Kirby's taking on some strays here and there himself, these days.

In other words....it's about depth...not talent....imho. UGA has loads of "talent".

It's just gonna take the Dawgs longer to find their "A" game than it used to...cause experienced guys that would've been playing this season and providing leadership....have transferred to other Programs or they're lined up in the Pros.

Which is okay....cause I don't see things being any better, anywhere else. And, there aren't more than a handful of teams out there…with a potential "A" game to match em.

I also think....if they indeed have an "A" game....it's gonna take the rest of CFB longer to find it, than it will UGA., Kirby deals with that issue better than anybody, imo. He's ahead of the game, in that respect, I think.

UGA will get noticeably better each week from here on out. Mistakes will be fewer and farther between. And, I know darned well Kirby and Bobo have an answer for their apparent "pass protect issues". Or...maybe that's just gonna be the Dawgs signature 2025 shortcoming.

Whatever. Lol....there's not a team out there right now, without some significant shortcoming. That comes with Free Agency. Just part of the game now.

Like that jacked up Kickoff re-imagining, the NFL tossed on the wall...CFB Free Agency is not good for the game. Imo. Not in a 2, 3, 4 yr situation. It's counterproductive for the player and the team.

In the NFL...a player could potentially be with the same team for a decade or more....as Brady and Gronk did with New England for instance. Or...he could move to a new team every year or two, and serve as a perpetual backup & role player.

Ya can't do all that at the CFB level. You only have a few years. I'm just sayin'.

Maybe the 3Star that wants to work hard is better then the 4 or 5 that 'thinks' they can walk in and dominate. Does anyone think they will put UK away this weekend??

I can't wait for Saturday - I want to see how they respond. If it's poorly….may heard some boo-birds

@Kudzu and @osmosiphobe...thanks for the thoughtful comments. We're lucky to have Kirby as our HC. I just think he and his staff are still figuring out how to adjust to the new roster landscape. More freshman starting than ever before which is going to lead to growing pains all around. It's the nature of the beast we've created.

It's incredible to me that if the playoff happened right now we wouldn't be in it. When they went to a 12 team playoff, my thoughts were-heck , we can sneeze and be in that. I think the freshman issue is real, but everybody has the same landscape, so IMO it's not a relevant excuse—or I should say "reason"—everybody faces the same numbers issue.

Lucy....if the CFP was played right now.…UGA wouldn't have lost.

I can't put it any plainer than that. DawgNation is playing absurd hypothetical games....as if. Lol

Everybody knows.…UGA isn't outclassed by anybody. They say it every year..."UGA is second to no one, in talent....and Kirby's the best at player development.".

    Lol....well...."let him develop", I say.

They say the same things every year....knowing KS Teams, have always been a slow starting second half team. In the game...and rhe season.

And....I say the same things every year with that regard. Having a pretty good idea by now…what everybody else has wrt the Dawgs. If I didn't believe it and see it with my own eyes...I wouldn't say it.

I could be wrong. But, the odds are against it. Lol

    Go Dawgs!

Lol....Kirby's got em right where he wants em. Talk about some great Positive Rat Food!

He's got everybody breezing right over UGA, now...when discussing the National Title hunt. That's what you want....early in the season.

Can you imagine where the hype would be...if UGA had curb-stomped Tennessee & Bama?. Unmanageable. IMO....Saban did the same thing to tamp down hype and find out "what kind of team he had".

A good example of that....is Saban's final season. When he had the early season loss to Texas (I think)...and followed that up by benching Milroe and barely beating UCF (I think).

Lol....and it's a darned good thing the Alabama Fanbase didn't have the power to fire Saban, after he dropped that game to LSU at home [9-6], 2011....or, the"Kick Six"to Auburn.

IMO....Sometimes, fans should just "be fans". And, find the positive to bounce against the negative....to put things in perspective. ESPECIALLY, this early in the season.

And…FYI.…"they" are still trying to explain Texas' loss to OSU & Manning's lackluster perfprmance(s). I'm listening to Finebaum do it, right now.

Lol...why aren't They "Questioning" Texas and Penn St...Or, Miami for gosh sakes....in the same way "They" "Question" UGA and Kirby Smart? Just sayin'.. Perspective.

I think it's because...once "They" commit to a prognostication.…"Their egos and paychecks effect their judgemant, going forward.

Trying to validate their earlier predictions...that were "Wrong"…."They" will say, almost anything. So...take all this noise with a grain of salt. Don't mean nothin'. Lol

    GO Dawgs. Just WIN.

Lol...you'll get some after the Kentucky game. I'm done. Got tired of listening to the BS. The "Negative" shouldn't mute all the "Positive", I saw. Doesn't make sense. Lol

    Go Dawgs!!! Get some!!!

I will say one more thing...Lol.

I DO agree with Finebaum on one point...."Somebody needs to let Kirby Smart know.…it's okay to beat Bama, now. Saban's has been gone for 2 years.". Lolol
