Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Some random thoughts
While patiently waiting for next week's game vs the Tide, I had some thoughts and choose to pester y'all with some of them.
- It's hard to compare QBs from different eras. The rules seem so different. It's almost a different game.
- Pass Interference is getting ridiculous. WR are allowed to push off, almost at will, with seemingly no calls against them. They also seem to be able to hold as long as there is a chance they can make a catch.
- I think the targeting call is still so unclear…some instances are pretty clear and some are way unclear. At least, I don't understand some of the calls.
- RBs can grab a facemask while performing a straight arm and no call is made. Defensive players seldom get away with it.
- On a recent MBL game, one umpire was "credited" as being the 4th worst at his job and missing so many calls. How in the world does one know if a close pitch is actually a strike or a ball. Replay angles are very vague and I don't think they are using the automated system is in use yet. Once it is in use, players will be allowed to challenge a call made by the robotic system. Does that mean that IT, too, can make mistakes?
Saturday can't get here fast enough for me!!

Good points & questions! I’ll add one:
Just saw Jordan Davis block Rams GW field goal attempt, scoop ball, and score! Awesome. Expect Christian Miller to get one next week too!!
THAT WAS FREAKING SO VERY EPIC!!!!
GO DAWGS!!!
The QB rules started to change when Jim McMahon got body slammed and dislocated his shoulder. It makes sense to try to protect the most important player on the team, but is has gone a little too far.
I agree the PI calls are getting ridiculous….especially on underthrown balls. I said it previously….if I was an OC my go-to 3rd and long play would be a deep, underthrown, sideline pass with the intent of drawing a PI call. I'd practice that play over and over until it was perfected. Send a receiver fast and deep then hit the brakes and let the defender run into him. I'll bet a soda that the likeliness of drawing a PI would be about the same as actually converting a regular 3rd and long play.
RBs delivering a stiff-arm to the facemask should be a penalty. Linemen get called for hands-to-the-face all the time, why do RBs get away with it. Also, need to start calling targeting on RBs for lowering their heads and hitting defenders with the crown.
Interesting new play there. I like it. Bet it could be perfected in practice. I agree, it might work very well. Of course, the ball could also be caught.
As Vince Dooley said, four things can happen when you pass the ball…
Two of these are good.
Go, Dawgs!
I believe Darrel Royal said it first. Plus, there is also a chance for offensive PI so 3 bad things are possible. 4 if you count sacks. 5 if you count ineligible man downfield.
😁😉
Run the darn ball…no worries.
The rules are so much in favor of passing now that run heavy teams have to be absolutely perfect to be effective. Throw the darn ball!!!
Take what the defense gives you. Read it. Take it.
One of the best I've seen at doing that was The Goat, Stetson Bennett.
Go, Dawgs!
or tell the defense what you’re gonna take and out-execute
I like this strategy, especially if you have a significant advantage in talent somewhere, but sometimes understanding a defensive scheme’s weaknesses might be the best advantage. Yet I do love the “we are going to do this until you stop us, and you ain’t stopping us” mentality.
Run it up on Kentucky.
It worked for Larry Bird.
not much to say about today. Good get right win. Love the running game I think we’ve shown we can really run on anyone. I’d really love to see Noah Thomas get going.
Defense still needs to grow up some. Big test in Auburn next week they better come ready to play
oh yea. Why don’t we have creative 3rd down blitzes. Even the announcers were calling it out. That really needs to change
