Yes they need to get more pressure, but stats totally lack context. Almost all those guys who left are playing in a different system. Our.guys have to win more 1 on 1's, but they have won more than first glance appearance. The issue is the defense being extremely young and not executing at the "same time". The dl/edges beat their guys and are on their way to get pressure and it's a quick screen or our DB giving up the initial read and the ball is out. The next play the db do their job and the dl does get stone walled. They just have not consistently put things together "at the same time". Its mostly due to the inexperienced at db. Nothing anyone can do, but they are getting better. We also had the poor luck of playing 2 really good qb who played out of their minds to start the game. Would have happened to anyone. Its not as bad as the numbers look, but it isnt great and needs improvement. If they put it all together at once which they have shown improvement each week and are still young the numbers will come. People have got to stop worrying about us being a reckless sack chasing style defense. We are not that, we don't recruit those style players and do not play that style defense. You arent going to see it. Our defense requires the length and strength up front to win one on one's while defending the run and maintaining contain/gap integrity. It will dip into your sack numbers slightly, but its a better and safer scheme. It forces teams to go 12-15 plays down the field without making a mistake to score on you. With that all said they still have to play better and continue to improve while winning more up front. No one is arguing that, but it seems no one really pays attention to what we have always done, but let the numbers and results trick them into thinking we were doing something different. The team is inexperienced and young for the one millionth time every has heard it and admitted it. Just look for improvement. There are no short cuts or easy fixes. We were due for this reset after the last 3 to 5 years of nfl output. It happens everywhere and we are still in games and showing improvement. Focus on that. Young guys make mistakes. We have a lot of them. They are getting better. They must be better. No one is telling you they don't need to.be better, but the context matters and expectations need to be in line with reality.
Whoever didn't write the check for Damon Wilson dropped the ball and the bag.
We'll see. I'm not seeing what is...but, what will be. Stay tuned. It's obvious, this isn't the same kind of dominant defense, we're used to seeing. But, it will crush teams, once the back end of the defense catches up.
There's more than one way to play defense. And, I like this defense's style and effort. That makes you better...and better...and better.
Imo....Soon....there won't be a weakness and the turnovers will start coming in batches.
Go Dawgs....UGA 38...AUB 13
Got to love Branch but the coach needs to tell him not to fair catch a punt inside the 5 yd line😂😂
Hey KS knows they are not going to fire him so why improve his staff but running off his assistants? He needs to bring Muschamp back but he got so much money from SC and Florida he doesn’t have to worry about these things😂🤔
what about the pass rush Carnac? When is that coming?
This weekend, when they play a team & QB, vulnerable to the pass rush. You darn sure, don't want to wait till the Ole Miss game to sharpen those edges.
Not only that....but, UGA will jump out to a 17 point 1st half lead by mid 2nd qtr., with 1 interception and a **** sack, account for 10 points.
The Dawgs will add another 21 points in the 2nd half. One TD through the air…and 2 more on the ground.
Auburn will knock out 1 FG before the half....and 1 in the 3rd qtr....and add a sloppy touchdown at the end of the game.
Carnac has spoken. Now place your bets. Lol
