He might be finally ready to step up. He'll need to. NThomas is not the answer. It would not surprise me to see CJW be pushed into a bigger role.

CYoung plays like a TE in a WR body. Not great ball skills when the ball is in the air. But a bigger target, decent hands and strong after the catch. He'll probably have to bulk up and play (receiving) TE to play in the NFL.

DBell will need to show he has developed consistent hands. With a bigger role there will more of his favorite routes on film. He will have to demonstrate he can consistently get some separation.

BTW that long DBell catch above is almost exactly the same play as CBeck's 2nd INT vs LVille. Same route same throw. Bell made the play for GS. The LVille CB made the play vs CBeck.

This season is his last opportunity to play college ball. Think he's done for the remainder of the 2025.

Some good comments in this string. First of all, I feel badly for Colbie Young. He was really stepping up his game and his leadership efforts this season.

Going forward, I agree with @Kasey that D. Bell works best when he's NOT the first option. That will probably remain the case. Expect to see more of Branch, Humphries, Thomas (although he always pushes off to catch a pass) and perhaps, Sacovie-White. Just reading between the lines of "Kirby-speak," I do not expect to see significant (if any) reps from Riley. If he was going to do something, he would have showed it by now. Kirby's quotes about him are basically, "he works hard in practice," which is tantamount to a pat on the head that means he ain't really going to get much game-time action. As for Eliyess Williams, he could become a good target. But from what I've seen, he seems to play better when Puglisi is throwing balls to him. We'll see. But I think we'll be fine if we can continue mixing in our TEs with the remaining WRs.

Just to go on the defensive side for a bit, what's with none of our three (3) transfer safeties getting on the field Saturday despite the injury to Kryon Jones? That's not good. I don't know who's to blame, but with a couple of notable exceptions, we're fairly ho-hum with our portal pickups. the past couple of years. Meanwhile, our portal LOSSES often seem to light it up wherever they land, again with a couple of notable exceptions. Go Dawgs!

See where Navydog is hoping to see more of Phillips. I recently asked a friend of mine who played for UGA and is pretty involved in the program why after the first couple of games this year in which Phillips sorta showed out why he hasn’t been playing. He said was not any injuries but apparently he hasn’t figured out how to block yet to meet Kirby’s standards. So I’m guessing until he picks that up we will only see him sparingly.
