miss state had some close calls. They have to be good before they can be great. They had some close calls and almost stole a couple wins against Texas and Florida.
If Texas who played against miss state shows up in Athens….we are gonna blow the doors off them.
I recently heard Sarkesian is 2-11 against top 10 opponents. And as others have noted, they're not good on the road. They're giving up more points per conference game than the worst Georgia defense in Smart's career, and they haven't played Tennessee or OM.
The MSU comp isn't as far off as the logos would suggest.
Actually he is 4-4 vs top10 since 2023 and 4-7 since he has been coaching at HornsDownU. The 4-4 mark includes two losses to UGa last year, 1 to Ohio St this year and one to a Penix led Wash in 2023 CFPs. I agree, Arch hasn't been stellar on the road but his gradual improvement the last few weeks cannot be ignored…
And if UGa who played Florida and Auburn shows up? Could get interesting…I like interesting. Was bored to tears watching that CowbellHail beatdown, good tears though for sure!
you mean the two games we won? I’d imagine we would find a way to win again. Just trying to highlight that miss state is a good team that we beat the brakes off of.
Point is Texas has been in 5 1-score games and lost 2 of them. UGa has been in 4 and lost 1. Both teams are Top4 in roster talent. The likelihood that either team gets blown out is slim, but trust me, Ihope you’re right! I just don’t see it, especially knowing an offensive guru like Sark has two weeks to scheme up a game plan.
Julian Sayin is a better QB now than he was in game 1. The difference between Sayin and every other QB in the country is that, since game 1, he has had three #1 WR's to throw to on any play.
The 5* QB I was referring to was Arch vs OSU in only his 2nd start. Just like Sayin and GS, Arch has gotten better with more playing time. There are many keys to QB success. Good WR's. Good running game. Experience in the O. The biggest factor for QB success may be a comfortable pocket to operate from. Most QB's struggle w/o that. The good one's pick you apart w/that. We will find out a lot about Arch (and GS) this week.
Texas and Georgia got athletes all over the field at every position but the inside linebacker play in this game from both teams is off the charts.
@Kasey,
I agree with you wanting A&M and Bama to slug it out in the SEC CG, but I’d like to see Bama lose (hopefully to Oklahoma) because we would definitely jump a 2 loss Bama team in the polls and be a ‘top 4’ playoff team. Don’t forget, Bama would still be ahead of us and play in the SEC CG due to their head-to-head win over UGA. Go Dawgs!!!
It should be noted that he had two weeks to scheme up plays v. floriduh as well …..and we know how that turned out!
Personally speaking.…IF, i had my choice of SEC QB's....besides Gunner Stockton, of course.…...
I'd have to go with Pavia @ Vandy. To me...THAT is a quarterback. He raises the game of everyone around him and is capable of carrying his team, if necessary.…imo.
Stockton is showing steady improvement in that area and his command of the offense. Imo....he's well ahead of Arch. Which is kind of ironic....seein' as how "coaching & development from The Master Sark", is why he chose Texas.
Hope all you Recruits out there, are paying attention. Consistency in Standards, should count for something. Lol
It should also be noted that we had 2 weeks for Bama and Florida as well…we went 1-1 barely. We can hope HornsDown goes 0-2. The way we play after Bye weeks I am very glad we aren't coming off of one as well…
Well that's mighty intuitive of you, pardner. Though if you look at Arch's stat's compared to Pavia's you see Arch nipping at his heels though Arch has only had 9 starts to Pavia's 40 starts. Arch's ceiling is substantially higher than Pavia's. The question will be how fast does Arch progress?
Pavia is already at his ceiling. He lacks stature and his arm strength seems underwhelming. He didn't play well vs Alabama after running his mouth during the week.
You know what helps a QB progress and play up to their ceiling? Playing against a team that has no pass rush.
As for the GS vs Arch comparison, Stockton was a class of '22 commit while Arch was a class of '23 commit. GS has been in the UGA system, practicing against the UGA D for 1 full year longer than Arch has been at TX.
Weren't you the guy that said that Marcus Washington the DB from Grovetown (since transferred) would benefit much more by reclassifying from '23 to '22 and practicing at UGA vs playing his SR year in HS?
